Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and technically driven Service Delivery Director (Data Centres) to lead global service delivery and operations for a strategic customer environment.
This role requires a leader with strong expertise in data centre infrastructure, server operations, hardware lifecycle management, and critical environment operations. As the senior operational leader, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service performance, maintaining the highest safety standards, and building trusted relationships with customer stakeholders.
You will lead globally distributed technical teams while serving as the executive point of contact for the customer, ensuring operational excellence, continuous improvement, and alignment with business objectives. Success in this role requires a balance of technical credibility, customer engagement, commercial acumen, and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the global service delivery strategy for data centre operations in alignment with customer and business objectives.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for customer stakeholders, building long-term trusted partnerships.
- Drive a culture of accountability, operational excellence, safety, and customer focus across all teams.
- Identify opportunities for service expansion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Service Delivery & Technical Operations
- Lead end-to-end delivery of data centre services, including installations, break-fix operations, hardware refreshes, maintenance, migrations, and decommissioning activities.
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of critical infrastructure environments.
- Oversee incident, problem, change, and capacity management processes.
- Ensure achievement of all agreed service levels, operational metrics, and customer commitments.
- Drive operational efficiency through standardisation, automation, and best practice adoption.
- Lead major incident response and executive communications during critical service events.
Customer Engagement
- Act as the executive sponsor for service delivery and operational performance.
- Lead regular business reviews, service governance meetings, and strategic planning sessions.
- Translate technical issues and operational challenges into clear business outcomes and recommendations.
- Maintain a highly visible presence with customer stakeholders and champion a customer-first culture throughout the organisation.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Champion a safety-first culture across all data centre operations.
- Ensure compliance with EOS policies, customer standards, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Oversee safe working practices relating to hardware installations, server deployments, cabling activities, and critical facility operations.
- Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action programmes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, compliance, operational resilience, and service quality.
People Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing global teams.
- Foster collaboration across regions, functions, and customer organisations.
- Support employee development, succession planning, engagement, and retention initiatives.
- Promote EOS values and create an environment where teams can perform at their highest level.
Commercial & Operational Governance
- Own operational performance, forecasting, budgeting, and financial accountability.
- Manage third-party suppliers and partners to ensure contractual obligations and service expectations are met.
- Support contract renewals, service growth opportunities, and business development initiatives.
- Provide regular reporting and performance insights to both customer and EOS leadership teams.
Requirements & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of data centre infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, power, cooling, and physical infrastructure.
- Experience managing server lifecycle activities, hardware deployments, asset management, and break-fix operations.
- Understanding of critical environment operations, infrastructure monitoring, automation, and operational resilience.
- Strong knowledge of incident, change, problem, and service management practices.
- ITIL certification or equivalent service management experience preferred.
Leadership Experience
- 10+ years of experience leading technical operations, service delivery, or data centre environments.
- Proven experience managing large-scale, globally distributed teams.
- Strong customer-facing leadership experience within enterprise or managed services environments.
- Demonstrated success balancing customer satisfaction, operational performance, commercial outcomes, and safety compliance.
Communication & Influence
- Executive presence with the ability to engage and influence senior customer stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical topics into meaningful business outcomes.
Desirable
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
- Experience within managed services, enterprise infrastructure, or hyperscale data centre environments.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
