Job Description:
Parsons is seeking a cleared, professional Senior Software Developer to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain systems software and Kafka-based data-streaming applications in support of DCDC mission requirements.
As a Senior Software Developer at Parsons, you will develop distributed systems software and data-streaming applications for mission-critical DCDC environments. You will work closely with DCDC customers, data engineers, analysts, product teams, systems engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.
What You'll Be Doing:
Design, develop, test, and maintain Kafka-based streaming applications.
Develop Kafka producers, consumers, streams, schemas, and custom connectors.
Implement data ingestion, transformation, enrichment, and delivery solutions.
Design and implement software for distributed and containerized environments.
Optimize application and Kafka performance.
Troubleshoot complex software, integration, and data-streaming issues.
Deploy applications across development, staging, and production environments.
Support CI/CD and DevSecOps processes.
Conduct code reviews and contribute to software-design documentation.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint demonstrations, design reviews, and after-action reviews.
Develop or integrate web-based management and monitoring interfaces.
Design and implement Kafka schemas, Schema Registry integrations, and Kafka Streams applications.
Establish data-contract and schema-management practices.
Optimize stream-processing applications for throughput, latency, and reliability
Write, review, and execute software test procedures.
Peer-review software code and provide constructive technical feedback.
Write, review, and update software design documentation, configuration guides, operational procedures, and user manuals.
Develop user-focused documentation for system operators and administrators
Collaborate with customers, data engineers, analysts, product managers, and systems engineers.
Support secure development and deployment of systems software.
Provide technical input during architecture and design decisions.
Required Qualifications:
B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 8 years of software-development experience; 4 additional years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
4+ years of Kafka-related software or architecture-development experience.
Experience with Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or comparable programming languages.
Experience with Linux, Bash, GitLab, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Experience with Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, Kafka Streams, or comparable streaming technologies.
Experience with JSON and XML data formats.
Strong software-testing, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
Experience with Agile development and DevSecOps practices.
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Active Secret clearance is required (TS/SCI preferred or willingness to upgrade to a TS/SCI)
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or similar automation tools.
Experience with data parsers and data-ingestion methodologies.
Web-development or UI/UX experience.
Experience with Big Data Platforms.
AI/ML experience.
SAFe Agile training.
Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or other observability tools.
Experience with secure software development practices.
Experience mentoring software developers and leading technical activities
