What you'll do:

Lead the design of cutting-edge, industry-first automation systems using a first-principles approach
-
Gather design constraints and produce complex 3D models based on a knowledge of pneumatics, motion (motor control & drives), materials, and manufacturing processes

Prepare manufacturing drawings, specifications, and release bills of materials; own all aspects of the product design phase
-
Design systems for compliance to applicable standards (i.e., CSA, ISO, ANSI, OSHA, customer specific)

Establish robust supply chains and manage low-cost manufacturing partnerships
-
Confer with colleagues, suppliers, contractors, customers, and relevant authorities to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and create appropriate technical documentation, including machine manuals
-
Set goals, develop, and maintain equipment build schedules for project launches
-
Research and evaluate mechanical products for application feasibility by applying knowledge of engineering principles for our continual product development

Support equipment installations, operation, maintenance, and repairs to ensure that machinery is installed and functioning according to intended specifications

Lead and participate in mechanical design reviews

What you'll need to succeed:
-
Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics); P.Eng. designation required
-
5+ years of robotic systems integration experience in a custom automation environment
-
Practical hands-on mechanical aptitude and a sincere passion for engineering, robotics, and automation
-
Extensive experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
-
A portfolio of automation projects in which you made significant contributions
-
A willingness to participate in all technical areas of the business as needed to solve complex problems and achieve business impact
-
The capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain timing deadlines
-
Experience in mentoring junior engineers and designers
-
Ability to work onsite at our Calgary factory
-
Ability to travel internationally
-
