LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles’ third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. Senior Manager, Venue Medical Operations:

As Senior Manager, Venue Medical Operations you will establish venue-based medical services for the Olympic and Paralympic Games from the ground up — the standards, staffing models, and emergency protocols that protect athletes, workforce, and spectators at every venue. Reporting to the Head of Medical Operations, you will lead Venue Medical Teams and make operational calls where clinical judgment, Games policy, and local emergency systems meet. The work is demanding and often ambiguous: you will design services long before venues exist, then prove them through test events. It suits a clinician-operator who prioritizes well under incomplete information.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all venue-based medical services, owning planning, execution, and operational decision-making across competition and non-competition venues.
• Direct Venue Medical Managers and field-of-play teams, integrating federation expertise and NOC/NPC medical delegations into Venue Medical Teams.
• Define staffing, equipment, and scope of services for athletes, workforce, and spectators, and ensure teams are trained in emergency response, sports medicine, and federation-specific medical codes.
• Manage emergency planning with local EMS, hospitals, and public safety authorities; develop venue contingency protocols and run scenario-based training and test events.
• Build partnerships with hospitals, EMS providers, and public authorities on disaster preparedness and public health surveillance.
• Ensure adherence to medical regulations and Games policies, and oversee medical manuals, guides, and training materials.

Required Competencies

• Minimum 10+ years' experience in management and oversight of department.
• Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in a sports medicine related field is highly preferred.
• Relevant medical or emergency management and instructor certifications (e.g., ATC, Paramedic) are a plus.
• Strategic thinker with strong operational execution; an effective problem-solver able to manage change.
• Collaborative, adaptable, and resourceful, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Valued Experience

• Experience building and leading multi-disciplinary clinical teams.
• Leadership, medical oversight of multiple sports and policy and procedure development

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
• The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
• The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
• Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
• Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The annual base salary range for this position is $105,000.00 - $140,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
