Job Description

Key Result Areas / Outputs

1. Pricing and Actuarial Processing Infrastructure

• Develop, enhance, and maintain scalable pricing and actuarial processing infrastructure.
• Improve the stability, efficiency, usability, and control of business-critical actuarial solutions.
• Ensure infrastructure remains robust, maintainable, auditable, and fit for purpose.

2. Automation and AI Enablement

• Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual actuarial and business processes.
• Support the responsible integration of AI and intelligent automation into practical operational workflows.
• Ensure automation solutions are sustainable, controlled, and aligned to business needs.

3. Data Pipelines, ETL, and Reporting Enablement

• Design and implement data pipelines and ETL processes to support pricing, actuarial operations, reporting, and analytics.
• Enable reliable data flow from source systems into business, actuarial, and analytical environments.
• Ensure data processes are repeatable, controlled, auditable, and fit for purpose.

4. Solution Development and Operational Delivery

• Translate business problems into practical, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Own solutions from concept and requirements through to development, testing, implementation, and support.
• Continuously improve operational processes, automation solutions, and processing infrastructure.

5. Governance, Risk, and Control

• Ensure solutions comply with model risk, IT, data, and broader risk management requirements.
• Maintain appropriate documentation, testing, controls, and governance over critical infrastructure and automation solutions.
• Support change management, operational resilience, and sustainable control across key actuarial processes.

6. Stakeholder and Project Management

• Act as a key link between actuarial teams, business stakeholders, operational teams, and IT.
• Support delivery of strategic and operational projects across pricing, data, automation, and actuarial infrastructure.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly and drive initiatives from requirements through to adoption and handover.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Actuarial student making good progress with actuarial exams
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in an actuarial operations, pricing operations, technical enablement, or business solutioning environment would be an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365.
• Advanced Excel, VBA, and Power Query skills.
• Solid Python or C# development skills.
• Working understanding of CI/CD and modern deployment practices.
• Experience with, or strong interest in, the Microsoft Power Platform — particularly Power Automate, Power BI, and Copilot Studio — will be a distinct advantage.
• Exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS), particularly S3, Redshift, and related cloud and data services, will be advantageous.

 

The successful candidate will support the Actuarial Architecture team in enabling, governing, and continuously improving business-critical actuarial and operational capabilities across Old Mutual Corporate. The role will focus on pricing and actuarial processing infrastructure, actuarial operations, AI and intelligent automation, data pipelines, data reporting, ETL processes, and operational data enablement.

This is a hybrid actuarial and technical role that combines actuarial judgement with strong operational delivery, technical enablement, and stakeholder engagement. The incumbent will act as a key link between actuarial operations, business stakeholders, and IT, helping to build, maintain, govern, and enhance robust actuarial and operational processing infrastructure across Old Mutual Corporate
