Why join Side?
This is an opportunity to build your finance career inside a genuinely international business, working across both local and Group-level priorities.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, you will work closely with our Malaysia finance team while also collaborating with colleagues in our London Group Finance function. Depending on workload and timing, there may also be opportunities to support finance systems work across other APAC markets, including China and Taiwan.
That gives the role considerably more breadth than a purely local accounting position. You will gain exposure to site finance, Group accounting, intercompany activity, multi-currency transactions and D365 systems improvement, while working with finance stakeholders across different countries and time zones.
The opportunity
This is a varied role within the Side Gaming Group, working primarily with the Malaysia Site Finance Manager, who is based locally, while also supporting members of the London Group team, including the Senior Consolidation Accountant and D365 Systems Manager.
The role combines day-to-day finance support with practical project work designed to improve how accounting processes operate across the Group.
A significant area of focus will be supporting intercompany accounting clean-up work, including the implementation of D365 automated matching functionality and the resolution of aged balances.
Over time, the position will also provide maternity leave cover within the Malaysia finance team, although this will not form part of the role during the initial few months.
For someone who enjoys getting into the detail, resolving accounting issues and improving how processes work, there is a genuine opportunity here to contribute beyond routine reporting and transactional finance.
Duties and key responsibilities
- Assist the Site Finance Manager, Malaysia with a range of duties at her discretion. There will also ultimately be a maternity leave cover aspect to this role, although this will not be required during the initial few months.
- Support the London Group team with a range of intercompany accounting clean-up projects. This will mainly include:
- helping implement the D365 automated matching functionality;
- reconciling aged balances; and
- settling and matching aged balances to prevent them from continuing to build up.
- Depending on timing and workload, provide support to the Group D365 Systems Manager with the continuing implementation of functionality across several APAC countries, including China and Taiwan.
Knowledge, experience and skills
- A number of years of accounting experience, ideally gained within a larger international business with exposure to Group reporting and multi-currency transactions.
- Ideally either a Qualified Accountant (CA or equivalent), a local accountancy university equivalent, or currently studying towards accounting examinations.
Personal attributes
- Proactive, commercially minded and strategically focused.
- High integrity, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Experience working with international teams across different countries, regions and time zones.
- Flexibility around working hours at times, given the international nature of the role.
