About the Role:

dreamDEX makes a hard claim: CEX execution without DEX custody. A fully on-chain CLOB with sub-10ms ambitions, zero trading fees, self-custody and transparent rules, competing head-on with Hyperliquid, Lighter and the large centralised exchanges.

A derivatives venue lives or dies on how it handles risk. Perpetuals mean margin, funding, liquidations and an insurance fund, and on a fully on-chain venue every rule is published in advance and enforced algorithmically. There are no discretionary bailouts. At the same time, our own liquidity engine, DreamVault, quotes the book, captures liquidation flow and is expected to be a real source of revenue.

You will own both sides: the guardrails and the offense. You'll run the risk surface of the perp book end to end, and you'll run DreamVault and the systematic strategies that put depth on the book and PnL on ours. You are equally at home on a risk dashboard and in a quant codebase, and you work directly with the GM and core team.

We look for people who are proactive by default: you find the solution before being asked, unblock yourself, and get things done fast without ever trading away quality - on a venue holding customer funds, speed and correctness are both non-negotiable. You take full ownership of your area and treat every problem in it as yours to solve.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the risk surface of the perp book: margin thresholds, the six-stage liquidation waterfall, ADL conditions, insurance-fund sizing, oracle risk and concentration/position limits

• Define the dashboards, alerts and intervention thresholds we need, and monitor book health in real time

• Own the incident playbook for market stress: cascading liquidations, oracle deviation and thin-book events

• Run DreamVault, our in-house market-making and liquidation engine: strategy, inventory and PnL

• Build systematic strategies that seed liquidity and depth on the book, especially beyond SOMI and stablecoin pairs

• Model the yield-bearing-book incentives and keep our own quoting aligned with them

• Feed risk and market-structure requirements back to product: what the dashboards are missing, what the ruleset needs, what MMs are doing to us

Requirements:

Must Have

• A genuine hybrid profile: quant / systematic-trading depth combined with exchange risk-management experience

• Hands-on perp DEX experience: you know funding, margin and liquidation mechanics in an on-chain setting, not just from a CEX seat

• Ability to move from a risk dashboard to a strategy backtest to a production quant codebase without a translator

• Comfort with a fully on-chain venue where every rule is public and enforced algorithmically

• AI-native working style: you use AI tooling daily across research, monitoring and code, and you're excited to build for a venue where AI agents are first-class users

• Sound judgement under market stress and the ownership to act on it

Nice to Have

• Built or run a market-making bot in production

• Experience at a prop shop, market maker or derivatives desk (CEX or TradFi) on top of DEX experience

• Used AI agents or LLM tooling in strategy or monitoring workflows

• Familiarity with reactive, event-driven execution (Somnia exposes native on-chain reactivity as a core primitive)
