Our platform combines regulatory information with more than 2,500 geospatial datasets to help energy companies and environmental consultants understand the permits, constraints, and risks facing a project in hours instead of weeks.
We are a small, fast-moving team tackling a huge market at the moment AI is beginning to reshape professional services. Someone joining now will help define both Blumen and the future of environmental work in infrastructure development.
The role
Regulations are written for people, scattered across thousands of government sources, and applied differently across jurisdictions. Your job is to turn that complexity into structured knowledge that Blumen's software can use.
This is demanding, detail-heavy work. You will spend much of your time finding authoritative sources, reading long documents, entering and structuring information, checking citations, comparing conflicting requirements, and reviewing outputs line by line. Some of it is repetitive. Accuracy matters more than novelty, and no task is beneath you if it improves the system.
The opportunity is that your work compounds. You will learn how our AI succeeds and fails, identify patterns across hundreds of research tasks, and work with product and engineering to improve our data structures, internal tools, evaluations, and automated workflows. The best person will begin by mastering the underlying work and grow into helping design the system that performs it.
This should appeal to someone who wants more than a conventional research or analyst career. You will have the chance to help define Regulatory Engineering as a discipline and shape how infrastructure permitting work is performed in an AI-native company.
What you will do
Research federal, state, and local regulations, ordinances, agency guidance, permit records, and other primary sources.
Turn requirements into structured triggers, citations, timelines, and decision logic.
Perform high-volume data entry, source verification, and quality control with exceptional consistency.
Review AI-generated work, find subtle errors or missing context, and create tests that prevent them from recurring.
Work with product and engineering to make regulatory research more accurate, scalable, and automated.
Who should apply
You do not need direct environmental or permitting experience. We are open to people from law, policy, research, consulting, operations, finance, intelligence, or other rigorous fields, as well as exceptional early-career candidates.
You should be extremely hardworking, humble, and unusually attentive to detail. You enjoy getting to the bottom of ambiguous questions and can maintain quality across a large volume of repetitive work. You take feedback well, care about the integrity of small details, and want to learn how AI products are built from the inside.
Environmental, energy, infrastructure, GIS, data, or coding experience is useful but not required. Curiosity, judgment, stamina, and evidence of exceptional execution matter more.
