Job Summary
Manage product engineering projects throughout the product lifecycle by driving new product introduction, product transfers, engineering changes, localization, and continuous improvement while ensuring successful delivery against quality, cost, and schedule targets.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Lead product engineering projects from product transfer through industrialization and post-launch support, ensuring successful execution within quality, cost, and timeline objectives.
- Manage New Product Introduction (NPI), product transfers, Engineering-to-Order (ETO), localization, and product lifecycle (Phase-In/Phase-Out) activities from concept through mass production.
- Lead product development projects, including design modifications, value engineering, feature enhancements, and customer-specific solutions to improve product competitiveness and meet market requirements.
- Drive localization projects by identifying localization opportunities, qualifying local suppliers, validating alternative materials and components, and ensuring compliance with global quality and technical standards.
- Manage end-to-end localization activities, including feasibility studies, business case evaluation, supplier industrialization, product validation, regulatory approvals, and production release.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, Planning, and Commercial to ensure project readiness and successful product implementation.
- Establish project plans, define milestones, monitor deliverables, and proactively manage technical, quality, cost, and schedule risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Own product technical documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOM), Technical Product Documentation (TPD), Engineering Change Orders (ECO), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) updates, ensuring accurate SAP/ERP integration.
- Drive engineering changes, product reconfiguration, alternate component qualification, supply continuity solutions, and cost reduction initiatives through value engineering and design optimization.
- Lead technical risk assessments, Design/PFMEA reviews, Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA), Design for Supply Chain (DFSC), validation activities, and product approvals to ensure manufacturing readiness.
- Plan and execute prototype builds, pilot production, product qualification, design verification, process validation, and industrialization until stable mass production is achieved.
- Collaborate with Global R&D and regional engineering teams to transfer global products, adapt designs for local manufacturing, and ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and market requirements.
- Identify opportunities for product portfolio expansion through localization, platform extensions, product customization, and new product development initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, manufacturability, productivity, reliability, sustainability, and operational efficiency through digitalization and Lean engineering practices.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, quality requirements, safety regulations, and customer specifications throughout the product lifecycle.
- Monitor project performance, communicate progress, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure successful delivery of project milestones and business objectives.
Critical Experiences
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, providing foundational knowledge in product design, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in product engineering Projects within manufacturing environments, including hands-on involvement with Bill of Materials (BOM) management, technical documentation, and support for product lifecycle and manufacturing process optimization.
• Certification in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems or SAP ERP is essential to effectively manage product data and changes; safety and quality compliance certifications relevant to manufacturing engineering are also critical.
• Hands on experience running the projects through Microsoft projects (Resources Allocation & Management, Baseline & Critical path identification, WBS & Task Structure, Reporting….etc.)
