  • Shape recovery-focused care across Murrumbidgee region

What if your lived experience could help shape the way mental health services are delivered while supporting others to find their own path forward?

Better. Together. is looking for a Peer Team Leader to lead our peer and psychosocial workforce across our hubs throughout the Murrumbidgee region

This is a unique leadership opportunity that brings together lived experience, peer practice, team leadership and genuine connection. You will support a team to deliver high-quality, person-centred and recovery-oriented care while continuing to work directly alongside participants as an equal.

About Better. Together.

Better. Together. is a free mental health service for people aged 18 and over across the Murrumbidgee region.

Our teams work alongside general practices to provide support that looks at the whole person, their mental health, physical health, relationships, community connections, goals and aspirations.

Peer work is an important part of this approach. We believe people bring valuable knowledge from their own experiences of mental distress, service use, recovery, personal growth and learning. When shared intentionally and purposefully, lived experience can create authentic connection, challenge assumptions and help people feel understood.

About the role

As Peer Team Leader, you will provide visible, values-driven leadership to the peer and psychosocial workforce across the region.

Coordinate day-to-day operations, support workflows and workforce planning and provide practical practice support to Peer Workers and Health Linkers.

A key part of the role is creating a team culture where people feel supported, included, empowered and connected to their purpose. You will instil Wellways peer work values and Intentional Peer Support (IPS) principles, while working closely with the Clinical Team Leader and Service & GP Partnerships Manager to ensure clinical, peer and psychosocial teams work together effectively.

You will also remain connected to participants through direct peer work, intentionally drawing on your own lived experience to build authentic, mutual relationships and support self-determination and recovery.

Please Note: this position can be based out of any of our offices – Wagga Wagga, Deniliquin, Griffith and Young.

You will have...

  • Relevant experience in peer work, psychosocial support or a related field
  • Personal lived experience of mental distress and/or service use that you can intentionally and appropriately draw upon in peer practice
  • Experience supporting, coordinating or leading a team
  • The ability to create an inclusive, supportive and accountable team culture
