Operations Associate
Company Description
Sagetap is a rapidly growing startup changing how enterprise technology executives discover and evaluate software. Our AI-driven platform anonymously connects tech buyers with the industry's most credible technology vendors, helping them cut through the noise and solve their biggest problems.
Backed by investors like NFX Ventures, Uncorrelated Ventures, and Emergent Ventures, we are on a mission to fundamentally change software discovery for senior technology leaders, fostering meaningful connections in a non-sales setting.
We're a tight-knit, fast-moving team that values curiosity, transparency, and impact. If you're energetic, results-oriented, and excited to work in an early-stage environment, come help us shape the future of technology buying at Sagetap!
Job Description
As Sagetap's Operations Associate, you'll be the first hire into a brand-new Operations function, reporting directly to our leadership team. You'll own the execution layer across people operations, hiring, compliance, IT/equipment, legal administration, and culture.
We're a small team, so nothing here is theoretical. In your first six months you'll run onboarding for several new hires, coordinate a company on-site, help stand up our SOC 2 program, and build the systems that let a 20-person company operate like a much larger one. Partnering directly with the leadership team, you'll develop an understanding of how the whole business fits together.
This is a hands-on, detail-heavy role. Much of the work is coordination, paperwork, and follow-through, and we're looking for someone who takes real pride in that craft. At our size, reliable execution is what keeps the company running. Where you see a better way to do something, we want to hear it; good ideas get adopted here on their merits.
What you will do
Manage vendors, insurance, and recurring obligations. Maintain vendor documentation (W-9s, COIs, security questionnaires), run insurance renewals with our broker, and track every renewal, filing, and notice to on-time completion.
Keep contracts moving and organized. Sending, tracking and filing agreements out for signature and chase them until they're executed. Track expiration and renewal dates so nothing lapses or auto-renews by surprise.
Own equipment and the SaaS stack. Procure, ship, track, and recover laptops across a distributed team, and maintain the inventory of licenses, seats, and spend.
Handle day-to-day people operations. Run onboarding and offboarding, administer HR (benefits, PTO, leave, training) in Justworks, coordinate all recruiting, and keep the performance review cycle on track.
Support our SOC 2 Type 2 program. Collect control evidence in Drata, run access reviews, execute company-wide security awareness training, and maintain the compliance and vendor documentation trail.
Run engagement and company events. Book venues, travel, and logistics for on-sites, all-hands, and offsites, and handle recognition (birthdays, anniversaries, milestones), swag, and engagement surveys.
Close the loop on action items. Capture commitments from recurring company meetings and follow up until they close, write SOPs, and prepare data for business reviews and all-hands.
Pick up the work that doesn't have an owner yet. This is a brand-new function, so new problems tend to land here first. Part of the job is deciding what becomes a real process and what stays a one-off.
Qualifications
2-4 years of experience in business operations, people operations, HR operations, chief-of-staff support, or a similar generalist role, ideally at a startup where you wore several hats
Exceptional organization and follow-through. You track your own commitments, and things don't get dropped
Strong written communication. You can write a clear SOP, a clean announcement, and a direct status update
Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action. You'd rather draft a first version and iterate than wait for a spec
Fluency with modern work tools (Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Linear or similar) and genuine eagerness to use AI to move faster
Sound judgment with sensitive and confidential information
Nice to have
Experience with some of our tech stack: Justworks (or similar HRIS), Drata, Notion, Slack, Google Workspace, Linear
Exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or another compliance framework
Recruiting coordination or ATS experience
What we are looking for
Ownership. You treat the things you're handed as yours, and you close the loop without being asked twice.
Systems thinking. You notice when you've done something manually three times and turn it into a process.
Low ego, high standards. No task is beneath you, and none of them get done sloppily.
Discretion and trust. You'll handle compensation, personnel, and legal information from week one.
Curiosity about the business. You want to understand why the work matters, not just complete it.
What you will have at Sagetap
Compensation: $85,000 - $110,000 base salary, depending on experience
Early-stage equity
401(k) and comprehensive healthcare benefits
Direct access to company leadership and visibility across every function
Real ownership in building a category-defining product
Opportunity to work closely with a high-performing, mission-driven team
Diversity drives innovation, enables better decisions to support our customers, and inspires change for the better. We're building a culture where differences are valued and welcomed. We work together to bring out the best in each other. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or any other applicable legally protected characteristics in the location in which the candidate is applying.
