The Bouvé College of Health Sciences, located on the Boston campus, has over 250 faculty members, with approximately 2,000 undergraduate and 2,400 graduate students. It is the leading national model for education and research in the health, psychosocial and biomedical sciences and supports the University’s mission of educating students for a life of fulfillment and accomplishment and creating and translating knowledge to meet global and societal needs.

The Department of Applied Psychology invites applicants to apply for an open rank, full-time, non-tenure track faculty position. This is a twelve-month, full-time, non-tenure track position primarily focused on providing leadership to a new counselor education program. There will also be teaching duties.  The successful candidate will also be expected to assist with service to our department, including program administration and clinical training of the counseling psychology students. The proposed faculty hire date is July 1, 2026.

Responsibilities include:

  • teaching graduate courses, including courses involving clinical supervision and clinical skills;

  • mentorship and advising of counselor education students;

  • Associate Program Director duties (e.g., management of recruitment, enrollment planning, curriculum, admissions) and clinical training oversight;

  • participation in relevant department planning, including meetings at the program, department, and college levels;

  • providing service and leadership to the Department, College, University, community and profession.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Earned doctorate in Counselor Education or Mental Health Counseling

  • Graduate from a CACREP-approved program,

  • Licensure as a clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina,

  • Three years post-licensure experience by the appointment start date

  • Experience providing clinical supervision to master’s and doctoral level students

  • Experience teaching mental health counseling and counselor education

Clinical Statement:

 Please describe your experience related to developing or coordinating clinical placements or fieldwork sites, supervising trainees, or partnering with community agencies, schools, hospitals, or behavioral health organizations. In addition, highlight any experience you have with data collection or evaluation, managing site agreements or contracts, or maintaining systems that support clinical training (e.g., placement databases, licensure tracking, or accreditation requirements). Applicants may not have experience in all areas; please focus on your relevant strengths and your readiness to learn new aspects of this role.

Teaching statement:

Please summarize your past instructional and mentorship experiences, your pedagogical philosophy, your plans/goals for teaching in the College of Science (including existing and proposed courses), and your strategies for teaching and mentoring global student populations.

Leadership statement:

Please describe your past experiences and activities and/or your future plans detailing your leadership style, how you intend to cultivate a culture that promotes a sense of belonging, including fostering a free and open exchange of ideas and managing different perspectives to help others strengthen their practice.

Pay Range:

52-week Salary Ranges: Assistant Clinical Professor: $84,000.00 - $95,000.00 | Associate Clinical Professor: $114,000.00 - $128,000.00 | Clinical Professor: $126,000.00 - $156,000.00

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
