ALTEN Mexico as a subsidiary of the ALTEN Group. Currently working with international clients, and we are looking for an Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for analyzing, implementing, and supporting solutions related to a 3-month concept study for a battery swap attachment joint, involving benchmarking existing solutions, performing calculations, and delivering a substantiated concept. This role requires a technical–functional professional with mechanical design experience, preferably in automotive or heavy vehicles. The project involves redesigning a bracket for an automated battery swapping system to ensure a robot can unlock and re-lock it without compromising crash performance.
Responsibilities:
- 3-month concept study for a battery swap attachment joint, focusing on redesigning the bracket that secures a 740 kg high-voltage battery to the vehicle frame.
- Size the 14-bolt M18 joint according to VDI 2230 standards and scope the simulation work with a CAE engineer.
- Drive the trade-off matrix, converge on a concept with the design engineer, and present it to the client at reviews scheduled at weeks 4, 8, and 12.
- Read crash load cases and challenging CAE results.
- Work independently to diagnose complex issues without relying exclusively on existing documentation.
Requirements
- 7+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in automotive or heavy vehicles.
