The Controls Engineer (2nd Shift) at our Jefferson City facility is responsible for developing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining control systems that support automated equipment and manufacturing processes. This role focuses on PLC programming, system reliability, and equipment performance while partnering with cross functional teams to improve safety, efficiency, and uptime across the facility.

Plant 2nd shift hours: 4:00 pm - 2:30 am EST. Please note: These reflect general core hours, start and end times will vary based on needs.

YOUR IMPACT 

  • Ensure long-term, cost-effective maintenance of equipment and facilities.

  • Manage projects to minimize investment costs while providing facilities that operate with maximum efficiency (throughput, energy use, etc.).

  • Review, monitor, develop, modify, and maintain process control systems to maximize profitability.

  • Develop and maintain technical training documentation for the plant’s physical assets.

  • Apply hands-on experience to improve equipment reliability.

  • Implement solutions that support site operations and maintenance team objectives.

  • Drive continuous improvement by monitoring automation and control activities, benchmarking against best practices, and developing/implementing projects that improve efficiency and safety.

  • Demonstrate skills in requirements gathering, design, configuration, integration, and implementation of process control solutions, including PLC software, safety systems, HMI packages, SCADA systems, and PC networking technology.

  • Operate test equipment and analyze resulting data.

  • Serve as a technical resource supporting all processes throughout the facility.

  • Ensure equipment uptime through the timely and effective resolution of production equipment issues to meet customer service and line fill rate objectives.

  • Regular attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field with Internship or co-op experience with either controls or software development focus.

  • Must be available for 2nd shift hours

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hands on programming experience with PLC and industrial automation systems, particularly Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation platforms.

  • Experience with safety scanners, safety PLCs, and machine safety systems.

  • Experience programming, maintaining, or troubleshooting industrial robotics, including FANUC 6 axis robots for painting applications and Yaskawa robots for welding applications.

  • Experience with robotic welding systems and automated manufacturing equipment.

  • Familiarity with Ignition HMI for developing and supporting operator interfaces.

  • Experience using AutoCAD to develop and maintain electrical and controls schematics.

  • Familiarity with CREO for 3D modeling and Windchill for engineering file and document management.

  • Experience with industrial vision systems, including Keyence IV3 and IV4 systems.

  • Understanding of industrial network communications, including Ethernet, DeviceNet, and fieldbus technologies.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose controls, robotics, networking, and automated equipment issues in a production environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position is based in a manufacturing or production environment and may involve exposure to loud noise, dust, moving machinery, or temperature fluctuations.

  • The role may require standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, lifting items up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, climbing, or using tools and equipment.

  • Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.

  • Visual and auditory acuity are needed for safe equipment operation and effective communication in a busy workspace.

Pay Range:

$68,600.00 - $109,200.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
