We are seeking a Cybersecurity Instructional Designer to develop engaging, accurate, and accessible security awareness and compliance training content for both technical and non-technical audiences. This is a writing- and design-heavy role that combines instructional design expertise, strong research skills, and the ability to simplify complex cybersecurity concepts into short, impactful learning experiences. The ideal candidate will have experience designing story-driven microlearning modules (30 seconds to 5 minutes), creating real-world scenarios, and producing content on topics such as phishing, AI threats, social engineering, NIST, HIPAA, GDPR, and secure development practices. You will be expected to work independently as a researcher and content developer, capable of becoming a subject-matter expert (SME) in cybersecurity and compliance when needed.
You will tailor your content based on the target audience—writing with technical depth for IT professionals and developers, and with simplicity, relatability, and clarity for general employees.

Minimum Requirements (Must-Haves)

• Proven experience creating cybersecurity, security awareness training or compliance training content
• Must have designed or written awareness training (e.g., phishing, password hygiene, AI threats)
• Strong instructional design background, experience in adult learning principles, microlearning, or storyboarding with clear examples of courses/modules developed
• Experience writing for technical non-technical audiences and demonstrated ability to simplify complex topics
• Strong research skills with ability to self-learn new cybersecurity/compliance topics and create original content
• Hands-on with eLearning or video tools (e.g., Vyond, Articulate Rise/Storyline, Synthesia, Camtasia, Canva, Captivate)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and proofreading.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, instructional design, or a related field.
• 3-4 years of experience in content management, curriculum development, or a similar role.
• A background in cybersecurity, with an understanding of current threats, trends, and security awareness training methodologies.
• Creativity and the ability to develop original, engaging content
• Experience in compliance-related content creation and training is preferred
