Sobre este puesto de Manager, Attack Readiness Insights (UI and Visualization) en Vanguard

Vanguard · Presencial · Charlotte, NC

The Manager of Attack Readiness Insights leads the design, implementation and ongoing operation of Unified Security Posture (USP) metrics, visualizations, scorecards and dashboards. The role is accountable for the reporting experience from approved concept through production delivery, with particular focus on user-interface design, interaction patterns, accessibility, usability, visualization quality and dashboard reliability.

This leader translates product direction and stakeholder requirements into visualization prototypes, production dashboards and measurable user outcomes. The Manager provides clear data requirements to Data Engineering, validates that delivered data products support the intended decisions and user interactions, and maintains transparent interim processes for approved manual data feeds until automated pipelines are available.

Core Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Capability Development

  • Build, lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary team of business intelligence analysts and visualization or user-experience designers.
  • Establish role clarity, delivery standards, quality reviews, workload management, career development and measurable objectives for the team.
  • Develop team capability in data visualization, interaction design, information architecture, accessibility, user research, security metrics, data literacy, dashboard engineering and stakeholder communication.
  • Create a culture of disciplined experimentation, constructive design critique, accountability, documentation and continuous improvement.
  • Balance strategic roadmap delivery, production support, technical-debt reduction, user-research activities and interim-feed obligations through transparent capacity planning.
  • Insight Experience, UI and Visualization Leadership

  • Lead design and implementation of security metrics, scorecards, visualizations and dashboards
  • Apply user-interface and interaction-design best practices to create clear navigation, purposeful drill paths, consistent filtering, meaningful context and intuitive movement from enterprise posture to actionable detail.
  • Establish and maintain a reusable dashboard design system covering layout, typography, color, hierarchy, interaction patterns, responsive behavior, accessibility, annotation, error states and data-quality messaging.
  • Translate complex security and risk concepts into visual experiences appropriate for executives, risk leaders, security teams, application owners, remediation teams and developers.
  • Ensure visual design supports interpretation and action without overstating precision, obscuring limitations or relying on decorative complexity.
  • Lead usability reviews and incorporate qualitative and quantitative feedback into iterative improvements.

Requirements Translation and Prototyping

  • Partner with the USP Product Owner during requirements-gathering sessions to clarify the target persona, decision supported, intended action, metric definition, priority, success criteria and acceptance expectations.
  • Co-develop low- and high-fidelity prototypes that test information architecture, visual hierarchy, interactions and presentation alternatives before production implementation.
  • Translate approved requirements into dashboard specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, test scenarios and traceable delivery plans for the Attack Readiness Insights team.
  • Advise the Product Owner on visualization feasibility, usability tradeoffs, delivery dependencies and opportunities to reuse established experience patterns.
  • Protect role clarity by supporting product discovery and prototyping while leaving product direction, roadmap and backlog priority with the Product Owner.

Data Requirements and Engineering Partnership

  • Define and communicate visualization-consumption requirements to the USP Data Engineering Manager, including required fields, dimensions, measures, granularity, history, refresh cadence, filters, entitlements, latency, semantic definitions and performance expectations.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to validate source-to-visualization traceability, dataset fitness, calculation consistency, reconciliation, lineage and handling of incomplete, stale or unavailable data.
  • Use governed data products and semantic models whenever available; avoid embedding reusable transformation logic, source-system workarounds or conflicting metric definitions within dashboards.
  • Participate in data-product design and acceptance to confirm that data outputs support approved user journeys, interactions and reporting outcomes.
  • Maintain a shared dependency view for dashboard delivery, pipeline readiness, data quality, interim feeds, automation commitments and release sequencing.

Dashboard Engineering, Release and Operations

  • Own configuration and implementation of production visualizations and dashboards using approved enterprise business-intelligence and reporting platforms.
  • Establish development standards for source control, peer review, reusable components, environment promotion, automated or repeatable testing, release evidence and rollback planning for visualization assets.
  • Define and operate user acceptance testing, accessibility testing, cross-filter and drill-path validation, performance testing, production validation and post-release monitoring.
  • Own dashboard availability, refresh visibility, defect triage, incident response, root-cause follow-up, support documentation and lifecycle management for Attack Readiness Insights assets.
  • Maintain a governed inventory of dashboards, owners, audiences, dependencies, usage, criticality, certifications, support expectations and retirement status.
  • Rationalize redundant reporting and reduce dashboard-level data processing, duplicated calculations, unsupported components and hidden dependencies.

Metrics Integrity, Governance and Risk Communication

  • Implement approved KPI, KRI and metric definitions consistently across visual products and maintain alignment with the governed metrics catalog.
  • Ensure dashboards clearly communicate scope, ownership, refresh status, thresholds, exclusions, denominators, trend logic and material data-quality limitations.
  • Partner with the Product Owner, Data Engineering, security domain owners, risk and governance stakeholders to validate that reporting is fit for its intended decision and audience.
  • Apply role-based access, data-classification, privacy, retention, evidence and audit requirements to visualization products and manual-feed processes.
  • Prevent the use of developer or crew metrics for individual performance ranking; design scorecards to support system improvement, behavior change and risk reduction.

Stakeholder Engagement and Adoption

  • Build trusted relationships with vulnerability management, application security, security operations, risk, audit, technology, application owners, developers and executive-reporting stakeholders.
  • Conduct design reviews, demonstrations, feedback sessions and enablement activities that improve comprehension, adoption and consistent use of USP insights.
  • Partner with the Product Owner on product communications and change management, with Attack Readiness Insights accountable for dashboard guidance, release notes, in-product help and user enablement.
  • Use adoption signals, usage analytics, support trends and stakeholder feedback to identify friction and prioritize experience improvements through the product backlog.

Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years related work experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience with cybersecurity, vulnerability management, application security posture management, attack-surface management, risk analytics or technical-control reporting.
  • Experience with enterprise design systems, accessibility standards, user research, prototyping tools and data-storytelling for executive and technical audiences.
  • Relevant education or professional experience in human-computer interaction, user-experience design, information design, analytics, computer science, cybersecurity, risk management or a related discipline.
