The Logistics Project Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing logistics activities from shipment release through final delivery to the customer. This role manages shipment visibility, delivery schedules, carrier and warehouse coordination, customer communication, documentation, invoice review, and issue resolution.
The position will also provide support for Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ), bonded, and customs-related activities. Prior FTZ/bonded warehouse experience is preferred, as training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned logistics projects from shipment release through final customer delivery.
- Develop and maintain project delivery schedules based on material readiness, vessel/container arrival dates, warehouse capacity, and customer requirements.
- Track international and domestic shipments and maintain accurate project trackers and delivery reports.
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, warehouses, and other logistics vendors.
- Review Arrival Notices, monitor customs clearance, and provide Delivery Orders and required documents to warehouses and carriers.
- Coordinate final-mile trucking, loading schedules, delivery appointments, and customer site requirements.
- Prepare and distribute Bills of Lading, delivery schedules, shipping instructions, and related transportation documents.
- Maintain regular communication with customers, including project kickoff meetings and weekly delivery updates.
- Require carriers and vendors to provide timely shipment status updates and immediately escalate delays or service issues.
- Update shipment status, packing slips, loaded quantities, and delivered quantities in company systems and project trackers.
- Review logistics invoices for accuracy against agreed rates, services performed, and applicable purchase orders.
- Coordinate invoice discrepancies, credits, claims, and other freight-related issues with vendors and Finance.
- Monitor transportation costs and identify unnecessary detention, demurrage, storage, or accessorial charges.
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Production, Warehouse, and Compliance teams to resolve project issues.
- Support continuous improvement of logistics trackers, templates, SOPs, reporting tools, and operational processes.
- Assist with project closeout by confirming final deliveries, outstanding invoices, and completion of logistics activities.
FTZ, Bonded & Customs Support
- Develop a working understanding of Foreign-Trade Zone and bonded warehouse operations.
- Assist with basic FTZ and customs documentation and shipment coordination.
- Work with the FTZ Manager, customs brokers, and warehouse personnel on FTZ or bonded shipment activities.
- Become familiar with common CBP documentation, including Forms 214, 3461, 7501, and 7512.
- Assist with maintaining accurate shipment and inventory records related to FTZ or bonded movements.
- Support investigation and resolution of documentation or shipment discrepancies.
- FTZ-specific procedures and compliance requirements will be trained as part of the position.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, freight forwarding, or project logistics preferred.
- Experience coordinating ocean freight, trucking, warehousing, and final-mile deliveries.
- Familiarity with customs brokers and U.S. import clearance processes.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience maintaining operational trackers and schedules.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently, identify issues, and drive actions through completion.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with project-based logistics or construction-site deliveries.
- Experience with containerized and/or breakbulk shipments.
- Familiarity with bonded warehouses or Foreign-Trade Zones.
- Basic familiarity with CBP Forms 214, 3461, 7501, or 7512.
- Experience reviewing freight invoices and transportation costs.
- OneSource knowledge is a plus.
- MSD knowledge is a plus.
