Brief description of project

The role of the Liaison and Diversion team works with people who come into contact with the police and courts. We identify unmet needs and help them to access the right support. We are looking for compassionate, approachable and reliable volunteers to join our team to be there for someone when it really matters.

The role:

This role aims to improve the service we provide to those involved in the criminal justice system. We aim to focus and improve processes, systems and support that enables others to receive the specialist and person-centred support they require.

Tasks may include:

As a volunteer for The Liaison and Diversion team, you will:

• Support service users involved in the criminal justice system
• Support service users to plan and attend appointments community activities and sessions.
• Encourage engagement, interaction and positive behaviour in line with guidance from staff
• Help maintain a safe and supportive environment.
• Always maintain confidentiality, in line with Waythorugh and NHS policy.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns immediately to named supervisors.
• Report any health and safety concerns
• Work alongside staff and other volunteers as part of a team. Following instructions.

• Non-judgmental towards people with lived experience
• Good time keeping
• Able to work as part of a team, on own initiative and to instruction
• An understanding of Waythrough – information is available on our website, and you can call a specific project to make enquiries.
• A genuine interest in being part of the mission, vision and promise of Waythrough
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries, adhere to Waythrough policies and media guidelines, engage in supervision, and complete relevant training
• Lived experience relevant to this role is welcomed and valued, particularly experiences that help you empathise with and support individuals involved in the criminal justice system
