As Legal Counsel, you’ll provide practical, commercially focused advice across a broad range of legal and regulatory matters. You’ll work closely with Marketing, Compliance, AML, Safer Betting, Corporate Services and senior leaders to help deliver products, campaigns and partnerships that are commercially effective, legally sound and aligned with customer needs.
This is an opportunity to build your in-house legal career in a fast-moving, highly regulated industry. You’ll gain broad exposure across commercial contracts, marketing, privacy, disputes, consumer law and regulatory matters, while working alongside an experienced and supportive Legal team.
Your advice will have a direct impact on how we operate, how we support our customers and how we help shape some of New Zealand’s best-known sports and entertainment brands.
Your Impact
In this role, you’ll provide practical legal advice across the business, working closely with stakeholders to help deliver compliant, commercially effective products, campaigns and partnerships.
- Provide practical legal advice across commercial, contract, corporate, consumer, competition, privacy, intellectual property, employment, safer betting and anti-money laundering matters.
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including goods and services, advertising, media, sponsorship and licensing agreements.
- Review marketing campaigns and new product proposals, identifying legal and regulatory risks and recommending practical, commercially focused solutions.
- Support complaints, disputes and regulatory matters while maintaining terms and conditions, TAB Betting Rules, internal policies and other legal documents.
What You’ll Bring
- At least one year’s post-admission commercial legal experience in private practice or in-house, with two to four years preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong critical thinking and sound judgement, including risk identification and practical problem-solving.
- Diligent, organised and collaborative, with strong prioritisation skills in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have

- Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including advertising, media, sponsorship or licensing agreements
- Marketing and advertising review, including promotional campaigns and consumer-facing content
- Advising regulated industries, with experience in privacy, compliance or regulatory matters
- Experience in TMT, intellectual property, employment law, dispute resolution, or in drafting rules, terms and conditions or policies
