Raspberry Pi Foundation · Remoto · Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Job Title: Learning Manager

Location: USA, Remote.
Candidates must be based in the Eastern or Central time zones, with preference for candidates in Metro Atlanta, Georgia, or the Twin Cities, Minnesota.

Salary: $72,000 - $78,000 p.a. Full-time equivalent, dependent on experience

Basis: Permanent contract. Full-time, part-time or flexible

Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in the USA

The role

We are looking to recruit an experienced educator to join the Raspberry Pi Foundation.  The role will contribute to the development of high-quality educational materials and professional learning experiences across our programmes for young people aged 8 to 18.

You will have a background in computing science education or a closely related field, with a track record of having created curricula, resources, learning experiences, or teacher professional development activities.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications are already changing many aspects of our lives. Young people who understand how AI works will be better equipped to engage with the world around them, make informed decisions about using and creating AI applications, and choose what role AI will play in their futures.

A central part of this role will be supporting and advancing Experience AI, an educational program that offers cutting-edge resources on artificial intelligence and machine learning for teachers and students aged 8–18. Developed in collaboration by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and Google DeepMind, Experience AI supports teachers in this exciting and fast-moving area of AI and gets young people passionate about the subject. You will play a key role in adapting, delivering, and scaling this program in the US, while contributing to its ongoing development.

This is a remote role with a national scope. Our US team is primarily based in Metro Atlanta, Georgia, and the Twin Cities, Minnesota, so we have a preference for candidates based in or near those areas. We are also open to candidates elsewhere in the Eastern or Central time zones. The role will involve periodic travel to meet with colleagues and partners across the country.

We work hard to make sure that the Foundation is a place where everyone is supported to do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you're the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you’ll be joining an exceptional team of people who care about our mission and each other.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver learning experiences, content, resources, and training for the Foundation's educational programmes and products.
  • Ensure that learning experiences, content, resources, and training reflect evidence-based pedagogy and the Foundation's agreed approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Plan and deliver engaging professional learning for educators in a range of formats, including webinars, workshops, and in-person events, adapting approaches to meet the needs of different audiences and contexts.
  • Engage positively with the Foundation's systems for quality assurance, including in relation to agreed policies for inclusion and accessibility.
  • Contribute to the development of the Foundation's teaching and learning strategy and approaches. Actively engage with research and best practice, and identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Proactively utilise user feedback and data to drive improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and external partners.
  • Represent the Raspberry Pi Foundation to external audiences and stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to the Foundation's thought leadership through writing articles and blogs, public speaking, and contributing to research and evaluation.

Experience and personal attributes

We recognise that everyone has the potential for growth. We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate that they have some, but not necessarily all, of the experience and personal attributes listed here.

  • A thorough understanding of computing, with a degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science or a related subject.
  • A teaching qualification or significant experience of teaching with at least 3 years experience of teaching computing science or a closely related field at middle and/or high school level.
  • Experience in designing and implementing AI literacy curriculum for students, combined with a demonstrable interest in the latest developments in AI for education.
  • Experience of delivering and designing high quality learning experiences, content, resources, or training in a variety of different settings and contexts.
  • Comfortable with a broad range of technologies, including hardware and software platforms, and the ability and willingness to learn new technologies as required.
  • An understanding of computing pedagogy within formal education and informal learning.
  • A commitment to the Foundation's mission and values, including on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and external partners. Openness to working across the Foundation's programmes and products.
  • Highly organized and proactive with ability to manage multiple work streams at different stages.
  • Willingness to travel in the US and potentially internationally.

About us

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is an independent nonprofit with a global mission to enable young people to realize their full potential through the power of computer science and digital technologies. In the US we operate through Raspberry Pi Foundation North America which is a registered 501(c)(3) organization.

We empower schools to teach computing and AI literacy through free curricula, classroom resources, purpose built software tools, and professional development for teachers. We inspire young people to become tech creators through the world's largest networks of coding clubs. We undertake original research that informs our work and which we use to advance the field of computer science education more broadly.

All of our resources and learning experiences are available for anyone to use at no cost. We are particularly focused on creating opportunities for young people who experience educational disadvantage and those who come from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in technology industries.

Over the past decade, we have supported hundreds of thousands of educators and tens of millions of students. We have teams in six countries (India, Ireland, Kenya, South Africa, the UK and US) and partnerships with mission-aligned non-profit organisations in over 60 countries.

We are at the forefront of the global educational movement to expand access to computer science education and AI literacy. You can learn more about our work in our latest Annual Report.

Benefits

In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a range of benefits for all of our colleagues, including:

  • Paid time off. In addition to public holidays, full-time employees in the US receive 15 days of paid time off, plus 3 additional days of paid time off for the company-wide closure at the end of each year.
  • Retirement Savings Plan (401)(k). We match 100% of employee contributions up to the first 5%.
  • Private Healthcare. We provide private healthcare (including dental and vision) for you and for your dependents through United Healthcare and Guardian.
  • Flexible working. We have clear policies to provide flexibility over when and where you work, helping you balance work responsibilities with the rest of your life.
  • Support for parents and carers. We provide generous family leave and flexibility for parents and carers.
  • Group term life insurance & disability insurance. We provide insurance and income protection schemes to provide peace of mind for you and your family.
  • Investing in learning and development. We invest in your growth and development, including through access to learning resources and training, with dedicated time for all employees.

Our recruitment process

All of our workplaces are inclusive spaces where we want people to feel respected, valued, and able to do their best work. We are committed to building teams that bring together people with a broad range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. That starts with our recruitment process.

Here's what you can expect:

  • As part of your application, you will be asked to respond to a small number of questions that we will use to screen your eligibility for the role. You will also be asked to provide your resume.
  • Eligible applications will be reviewed by our recruitment team and the hiring manager. We review all applications for authenticity. While we embrace the use of AI tools to assist you, all content must genuinely represent your own work, and have been reviewed and personalised by you.
  • A small number of candidates will be invited to a phone call with the hiring manager. The purpose of this call is to check our understanding of your application and to answer any questions you have.
  • We normally have two interviews, which may take place in-person. Interviews will be with the hiring manager and at least one other colleague.
  • You will usually be asked to undertake a work-based assessment in advance of your interviews. This will be an opportunity for you to show how you would perform some part of the role. You will be given advance notice and clear instructions.
  • If you have any questions about or feel that you need any adjustments to the recruitment process, including adjustments for neurodiversity, please contact our People and Culture team at [email protected].

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Everyone appointed to a role at the Foundation will be required to undergo a background check to confirm that you are a suitable person to work with children. Further background checks will be made at regular intervals thereafter.

Sobre Raspberry Pi Foundation

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a UK-based educational charity with the mission to enable young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies.

Established in 2008 and first known for our product — the wildly successful Raspberry Pi computer — the Foundation has developed education programmes, learning experiences, and products that are helping millions of young people learn vital new knowledge and skills.

Through Code Club, we support the world’s largest network of free informal computing clubs for young people. Tens of thousands of educators have taken our online courses, and millions of people use our free online learning resources. To deepen our understanding of how young people learn about computing and how to create with digital technologies, we conduct academic research, and we use that knowledge to increase the impact of our work and advance the field of computing education.

Across all of our work, we work hard to engage young people who come from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in the field of computing or who experience educational disadvantage. We work all over the world, with teams based in the UK, Ireland, North America, and India, and partnerships with mission-aligned organisations in over 40 countries. You can learn more about us on our careers page.

We are at the forefront of the global movement to help young people learn about computing and digital making. You can read more about our mission, values, and goals in our Annual Review 2023 and our Strategy 2022–2025.
