About the role

This is a broad and varied Laboratory Engineer role combining routine Quality Control testing with investigations, troubleshooting, validation and qualification activities, and continuous improvement.

The Quality Control department is responsible for release testing of vaccines and their components, as well as raw materials and packaging materials. The scope also includes sampling and testing related to Environmental Monitoring (EM) and utilities, such as purified water, gases, and steam, to ensure compliance with GMP requirements and support the microbiological control of the manufacturing environment.

The position offers the opportunity to work across several areas of Quality Control within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment and to contribute both to day-to-day laboratory activities and the continued development of our processes and ways of working.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform and review routine Quality Control analyses according to established methods, including analytical techniques, immunoassays, and microbiological analyses.
  • Ensure that laboratory activities are performed in accordance with GMP requirements, approved procedures, and internal instructions.
  • Lead and document investigations related to deviations, OOS/OOT results, and other laboratory events.
  • Lead and support method validation and verification activities, as well as qualification of laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Drive and contribute to troubleshooting, method optimisation, and laboratory improvement activities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of efficient laboratory processes and best practices.
  • Prepare, review, and update laboratory procedures, instructions, and other relevant documentation.
  • Coordinate and order materials, reagents, and other supplies required for laboratory methods and activities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, and other relevant functions.
  • Participate in internal and external inspections and audits, including preparing documentation and responding to questions related to the laboratory area.
  • Provide analytical and technical support to the organisation and train colleagues in relevant methods, processes, and laboratory activities when required.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree (BSc or MSc) in a relevant scientific field, such as Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or similar.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant laboratory and Quality Control experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Good knowledge of GMP and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in leading or independently managing investigations, including deviations, OOS/OOT, CAPA, and Change Controls.
  • Experience with validation and qualification activities within a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and manage tasks in a structured and organised manner.
  • Experience with laboratory computerised systems such as LIMS, Empower, or similar platforms is considered an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Swedish and English.

We place great value on personal qualities. You are meticulous, responsible, and quality-focused, with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
