Performs duties associated with the maintenance and repair of building structures, associated systems, and equipment through proficient and knowledgeable skills in the areas of heating, air conditioning, control systems, electrical, plumbing, and kitchen equipment, both on commercial and residential scales. Most incumbents have this specialized area of expertise, but can provide assistance in all areas of building maintenance.

Incumbent must meet pre-employment drug and alcohol testing requirements; subject to random drug and alcohol testing, including reasonable suspicion.

  • Reports consistently for work as scheduled

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards

  • Assures the safe conditions of the swimming pool equipment

  • Ensures that all safety rules, regulations, and codes are followed to the prescribed measures

  • Maintains an inventory and recommends purchase of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment

  • Maintains clean and efficient operating work area

  • Makes repairs, cleans, lubricates, maintains equipment, and submits work orders as necessary before they become emergencies

  • Performs pneumatic system repairs, hydraulic repairs, mechanical repairs, and fuel system repairs

  • Plans and performs maintenance repairs to the facilities and systems and reports major discrepancies

  • Prepares and enters records of work performed and parts used on all district equipment

  • Provides assistance in resolving technical problems

  • Reads and interprets service and parts manuals

  • Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide the appropriate temperature for the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity

  • Responds to all service breakdowns and assigned work orders as required

  • Services and maintains commercial kitchen equipment

  • Sits, stands, walks, stoops, kneels, and crouches/squats while performing duties

  • Has oral and auditory capacity enabling interaction interpersonally and/or through communication devices

  • Uses eyes, hands, and finger coordination enabling the use of equipment and writing utensils

  • Lifts or carries burdens weighing up to 50 lbs., and pushes and/or pulls other burdens weighing 100 lbs.

  • Has visual capacity enabling safe operation of machinery

  • Conducts activities involving climbing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching/squatting, crawling, twisting, and reaching

  • Works with arms and hands extended at shoulder height or higher with a weight up to 50 lbs.

Required Qualifications:

Colorado Driver's License - Department of Revenue - Division of Motor Vehicles, Experience in a craft or trade area related to building maintenance obtained through on-the-job training and experience, or through apprenticeship, or other formal training programs, Heating Mechanic IV License (MECH IV) - Pikes Peak Regional Building Department, High school graduate -high school diploma or equivalent, Universal Refrigerant Certification - Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
