We are looking for a skilled and analytical Health Actuarial professional with 2–7 years of experience to join our actuarial team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in health actuarial concepts, solid knowledge of general actuarial practices, and the ability to apply actuarial techniques to pricing, reserving, forecasting, risk assessment, and business decision-making.
This role is suited for an actuarial professional who can work with large and complex datasets, develop meaningful insights, support actuarial models, and communicate findings effectively to both technical and business stakeholders. You will contribute to projects involving healthcare risk, claims analysis, financial projections, and portfolio performance.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Perform health actuarial analysis related to claims, medical costs, utilization, morbidity, premiums, reserves, and healthcare trends.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial models used for pricing, reserving, forecasting, risk assessment, and portfolio analysis.
- Analyze historical claims and policy data to identify trends, patterns, emerging risks, and cost drivers.
- Support the development of health insurance pricing assumptions, rating methodologies, and profitability analyses.
- Conduct experience studies and evaluate assumptions related to claims frequency, severity, lapse, morbidity, and other relevant actuarial factors.
- Assist with reserving activities, including analysis of incurred and paid claims, development patterns, and adequacy of reserves.
- Apply general actuarial principles to evaluate financial performance and support business planning and strategic decisions.
- Prepare actuarial reports, dashboards, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with underwriting, finance, risk, claims, product, and data teams to translate actuarial findings into actionable recommendations.
- Validate data, assumptions, calculations, and model outputs to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Contribute to process improvements, automation, and enhancement of actuarial analytical methodologies.
- Stay updated on healthcare, insurance, regulatory, and actuarial developments that may impact the business.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in Health Actuarial analysis and related insurance concepts.
- Solid understanding of General Actuarial principles, including pricing, reserving, forecasting, risk analysis, and experience studies.
- Strong knowledge of health insurance claims, medical cost trends, utilization, morbidity, and healthcare risk.
- Ability to work with large datasets and perform quantitative and statistical analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills.
- Understanding of actuarial assumptions, methodologies, and model validation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex data accurately.
- Good communication skills with the ability to explain actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Professional actuarial qualification or progress toward actuarial examinations.
- Experience working with actuarial software, statistical tools, or data analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of Actuarial modeling and automation techniques.
- Experience with SQL, Python, R, Excel, VBA, or similar analytical tools.
- Exposure to insurance regulations, healthcare economics, or risk management.
- Experience working with dashboards and business intelligence tools.
- Prior experience supporting actuarial transformation or automation initiatives.
Experience
2–7 years of relevant experience in Health Actuarial, General Actuarial, insurance analytics, or a closely related actuarial function.
