About the Role
The General Manager (GM) HSE, Experiences and Attractions role is responsible for leading the HSE function for the newly formed Experiences and Attractions division in Journey Beyond. This new division brings together the various businesses in Journey Beyond that are focussed on providing unforgettable guest experiences across our diverse portfolio of Marine attractions and visitor experiences, services and products.
This role will be a key member of a newly formed Leadership Team and will deliver a range of HSE support from risk and incident management, strategy development and execution, systems, data and governance, contractor and third party HSE assurance, audit, safety culture and engagement, and leadership coaching. The GM HSE Experiences and Attractions will report to the Executive General Manager HSE and dotted line to support the Managing Director for the Experiences and Attractions function.
This is a national role, ideally based in Adelaide or Sydney. Travel may be required as you will be required to work with teams and stakeholders in multiple locations. You must have the flexibility to travel as required.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Develop HSE related programs to drive the proactive safety culture agenda
- Implement and execute HSE initiatives with an employee experience perspective
- Lead the data, reporting and HSE assurance processes for the division, including the development of KPIs and key insights, regulatory and legislative monitoring and provide input into Executive / Board reporting where required
- Co-develop and lead the deployment of a new HSE governance model for the division, including the optimisation of management safety, advisory and divisional committee structures
- Provide functional leadership to the HSE divisional team ensuring that the team is structured to provide the advice to the business and whilst continuing to grow into a high performing team
- Provide advice and input into the full range of HSE functional areas including but not limited to critical risk management and disruption planning, marine and food safety assurance, regulatory compliance, safety and environmental systems, assurance for third parties and contractors and injury management and rehabilitation
- Act as a trusted advisor to the senior divisional Leadership team
- Provide escalated advice for regulatory matters within the division
- Analyse data and trends to inform decision making and strategy development
- Act as the primary contact on relevant HSE workstreams for Experiences and Attractions, both internally and externally for the Journey Beyond Group
- Provide a safe and secure environment for employees and in accordance with Journey Beyond's HSE framework and policies
- Actively engage and develop relationships across all level of the Journey Beyond group
About You
To be successful you will be an experienced HSE professional with previous experience in a marine and tourism environment where you have managed people in teams that are geographically dispersed.
You will also have the following skills/knowledge/attributes:
- Marine safety and industry experience is essential
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australian maritime safety law comprising Commonwealth legislation, regulations, AMSA Marine Orders, and applicable state and territory laws and international conventions
- Trusted, with the ability to positively lead and influence across all levels
- A collegiate and collaborative working style
- Proven problem solving and decision-making skills
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and leadership capability
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach with strong commercial acumen
- 10+ years' experience in a Health, Safety & Environment role with similar size and scope
- Relevant HSE qualifications (Diploma, Degree or comparative experience in management or marine operations)
You will be self-motivated, have strong communication and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail
