Role Overview
As a Fire & Security Service Technician, you will respond to service calls, diagnose equipment and system issues, and perform service and repairs on electronic fire & security alarm systems and related building system products at customer sites. This role is focused on delivering reliable, code-compliant service, clear customer communication, and strong technical support for Fire & Life Safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, review the equipment or system issue, and contact the customer representative to confirm the problem.
- Diagnose and repair electronic fire alarm systems and related building system products at customer sites.
- Service, troubleshoot, and install Fire & Life Safety systems, including SimplexGrinnell and other manufacturers’ equipment.
- Follow troubleshooting procedures and use technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, modification notices, bulletins, and other documentation to complete repairs.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software and system information, schematics, and operational product manuals.
- Complete Service Acknowledgements with accurate coding using communication devices such as smart phones and laptop computers.
- Obtain customer signature upon completion of the service call assignment.
- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation and support customer needs as required.
- Help train or mentor other members of the service team.
- Provide recommendations, solutions, quotes, and support for opportunities that help customers improve facility performance.
- Deliver a high level of customer service and act as a trusted advisor at the time of service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Take ownership of each service call from first response through completion, ensuring issues are diagnosed accurately and resolved with professionalism.
- Work safely and with integrity on every site by following company procedures, customer requirements, and all applicable safety guidelines.
- Stay close to the work by organizing your technical resources, tools, materials, and support so you can execute efficiently in the field.
- Use clear, respectful communication with customers, district staff, and teammates to build trust and keep work moving smoothly.
- Continuously improve your approach by using manuals, bulletins, system documentation, and problem-solving discipline to strengthen each repair and service visit.
- Work as one team by sharing knowledge, supporting mentoring, and collaborating across functions to deliver the best customer outcome.
- Document work accurately and on time so service records, coding, and follow-up actions are complete and reliable.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational or product manuals.
- Knowledge of test equipment, including a multimeter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Excellent customer service skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
- Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, and working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
- Ability to participate in on-call and after-hours work when needed.
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
- Ability to retain any licenses required by National, State, and Local codes.
- Ability to maintain truck inventory to support timely customer response.
- Ability to adhere to and always follow safety guidelines and procedures.
Nice to Have
- NICET Level II certification.
- Experience with CCTV, IT systems, and IP networks.
- Experience training or mentoring technicians in a service environment.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $24-$34 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
