We are looking for a highly motivated and results-driven Engineering Business Development professional with 3–8 years of experience in engineering sales, technical business development, or related client-facing roles. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of engineering products, solutions, and services, combined with excellent sales, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
In this role, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with prospective and existing clients, understanding technical requirements, and proposing suitable engineering solutions. You will work closely with customers, engineering teams, project teams, and internal stakeholders to drive revenue growth and expand the company’s market presence.
The successful candidate should be comfortable managing the complete business development lifecycle, from lead generation and prospecting to technical discussions, proposal preparation, negotiations, and deal closure. A strong ability to understand customer challenges and translate technical capabilities into effective business solutions will be essential for success in this role.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities within relevant engineering and industrial markets.
- Generate leads through market research, networking, referrals, industry events, client meetings, and other business development activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients, existing customers, consultants, and other key stakeholders.
- Understand customer requirements and collaborate with engineering and technical teams to develop appropriate solutions.
- Conduct client presentations, product demonstrations, technical discussions, and business meetings.
- Prepare and deliver proposals, quotations, technical-commercial presentations, and other sales documentation.
- Manage the complete sales cycle, including lead qualification, opportunity development, negotiations, and closure.
- Work closely with internal engineering, operations, project management, and commercial teams to ensure effective solution delivery.
- Develop strategies to increase sales, improve customer engagement, and expand into new markets.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, customer interactions, opportunities, sales activities, and business forecasts.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, customer requirements, and emerging opportunities within the engineering sector.
- Achieve assigned sales targets and contribute to overall business growth and revenue objectives.
- Provide regular updates and reports on business development activities, sales pipelines, and customer feedback.
- Support customer retention and account growth by identifying cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 3–8 years of relevant experience in Engineering Sales, Business Development, or as a Business Development Engineer.
- Strong experience in selling engineering products, technical solutions, industrial services, or related offerings.
- Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate engineering solutions effectively to customers.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to identify opportunities and develop effective sales strategies.
- Experience managing customer relationships and handling technical-commercial discussions.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings, business development activities, and industry events when required.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience in Engineering Business Development across industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, or technology-driven sectors.
- Previous experience in a Senior Engineer – Sales or technical sales role.
- Knowledge of B2B sales processes and consultative selling.
- Experience with CRM tools and sales pipeline management.
- A strong professional network within relevant engineering or industrial sectors.
