About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, the Engineer or Engineer in Training, Mining, is responsible for developing and optimizing strategic mid-range plans at Elkview Operations. The role involves executing all aspects of mid-range planning including pit, spoil, and haul road design optimizations, 2-5 year schedules, strategic evaluations, all while considering potential impacts to sustainable development. This role is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to make a positive impact on the business.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Execute on a wide range of mine planning deliverables including pit, spoil, and haulage design while considering potential sustainable development impacts
- Perform iterative production scheduling from KPI analysis to estimated coal blending results
- Influence site decision making through detailed data analysis and sound mining practices
- Perform economic evaluations, productivity analyses, strategic planning assessments, and peer reviews
- Communicate mine development projects to the permitting groups within the business unit
- Assist in developing mine permit applications and amendments and ensure mine plans are following permit compliance
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC); EVR will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
- Proficiency in mine scheduling software such as XPAC Solutions, and mine design software such as Minesight 3D
- Solid understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite®
- Motivated self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
Salary: $91,300 to $126,800 CAD/year
For applicants registered as an EIT or GIT, annual base salary will be determined by EVR's formal progression matrix based on verified relevant years of experience.
