POSITION OVERVIEW

Girls Inc. of Los Angeles is seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Programs to lead our school–based programs, supervise the Program Team, and manage the network of Los Angeles Unified School District school partnerships. A successful Director of Programs will be an influential leader who excels at leading and managing diverse teams and collaborating with school and community. The Director of Programs will report into and work closely with the Chief Program Officer.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead & Supervise Program Site Managers

  • Supervise, coach, and develop Program Site Managers (PSM) using a people-centered management, restorative approach
  • Oversee the successful  implementation of the Girls Inc. experience on campuses 
  • Maintain accountability and program quality through weekly one-on-one meetings and quarterly performance management meetings, and once per semester skip-level meetings.
  • Establish systems to assess and improve  PSM experience and effectiveness 
  • Conduct weekly campus visits to observe staff, assess program quality and provide direct support
  • Hire and onboard PSM and program facilitators as needed

Partner Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with campus administrators and staff to ensure successful program implementation  
  • Partner with PSM and Chief Program Officer to facilitate program impact and contract discussions with school partners 
  • Summer Program: Collaborate with partnering club leaders, organizations, and companies to organize logistics for effective summer program execution 

Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration

  • Organize Program Team meetings to promote community building and collaboration 
  • Partner with Program Services Director to align program curriculum priorities and needs 
  • Partner with Data and Operations Manager to leverage necessary data for program implementation and effective volunteer deployment
  • Partner with Chief Program Officer to assess collaboration and partnership opportunities with organizations or community partners that will further enrich the Girls Inc. experience 
  • Collaborate with the Girls Inc. fundraising team to support critical events, initiatives, and projects  
  • Attend and/or lead staff skill development sessions 
  • Attend Girls Inc. National trainings as appropriate 

Requirements

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Relevant Work Experience.  5-7+ years experience, including 2+ years  leading school-based nonprofit programs, directly supervising managers, and building and maintaining partnerships
  • People-centered leadership. Demonstrated success utilizing people-centered approaches to coaching and accountability 
  • Self-Management & Execution. Exceptionally organized and self-directed, with strong time-management skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Relationship Development & Management. Excellent communicator who can capably build strong trusting relationships with a variety of partners.   
  • Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving. Adept at balancing high-level strategy with day-to-day operational support; skilled at utilizing data to identify operational gaps, solve challenges, and improve program outcomes.
  • Commitment to the mission of Girls Inc. and the values of diversity, inclusion and empowerment

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Education. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred in education, psychology, social work or a related field 
  • Mobility. Reliable personal transportation to conduct frequent site visits across partner schools throughout Los Angeles County. This role is hybrid, in-person 3-5 times a week.
  • Language. Spanish language proficiency preferred 

Benefits

Starting salary: $86,000-$90,000

Full-time employees are eligible for all benefits, including vacation, sick days, parental leave, and organization holidays. Benefits also include 401k with match, health, and dental plan.
