Position Details

• Location: Mission Valley Post Acute

• Pay Rate: $18.00–$20.00 per hour

• Schedule: Full-Time

• Shifts: AM & PM shifts available

About the Role

As a Dietary Cook, you will play an important role in preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that meet our residents’ individual dietary needs. You’ll work closely with the dietary team to ensure meals are prepared safely, served on time, and provide a positive dining experience for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines.

• Ensure meals meet residents’ nutritional needs and physician-ordered diets.

• Prepare and modify meals to accommodate special dietary needs, including diabetic, low-sodium, and texture-modified diets.

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection control, and workplace safety requirements.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.

• Properly store, label, and rotate food items to maintain freshness and comply with food safety standards.

• Assist with inventory and communicate food and supply needs to dietary leadership.

• Support meal service and ensure proper portion sizes and presentation.

• Work collaboratively with dietary staff, nursing, and other members of the care team.

• Help ensure residents receive meals that are nutritious, appealing, and prepared according to their individual needs.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, institutional food service, or a similar setting preferred.

• Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets is a plus.

• Current Food Handler’s Certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork.

• Compassionate approach when working with residents and healthcare team members.
