We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Design Engineer – UG NX (Robotics) to join our engineering team and contribute to the design, programming, integration, and optimization of industrial robotic systems. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with robot programming and teaching, particularly with FANUC robots, along with proficiency in UG NX for mechanical design and engineering applications.
You will work closely with mechanical, automation, manufacturing, and production teams to develop efficient robotic solutions, support automation projects, and ensure successful implementation of robotic systems on the shop floor.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop robotic system components, fixtures, tooling, and mechanical assemblies using UG NX.
- Create and modify detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings while adhering to design and manufacturing standards.
- Develop, modify, troubleshoot, and optimize robot programs for industrial automation applications.
- Perform robot teaching, including teaching points, paths, positions, sequences, and process parameters.
- Program and operate FANUC robots for applications such as material handling, welding, assembly, machine tending, dispensing, or other manufacturing processes.
- Conduct robot teach pendant operations, program validation, cycle-time optimization, and process troubleshooting.
- Support robot installation, commissioning, testing, and production ramp-up activities.
- Analyze robotic processes and recommend improvements to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and overall equipment efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand process requirements and translate them into effective robotic and mechanical solutions.
- Review existing robotic programs and mechanical designs to identify opportunities for optimization and standardization.
- Support root-cause analysis of robotic, mechanical, and process-related issues and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare engineering documentation, robot program documentation, design specifications, and technical reports.
- Ensure all robotic systems and designs comply with applicable safety, quality, and engineering standards.
- Provide technical support during machine trials, production launches, and customer/site commissioning activities.
Must-Have Skills
- 4–10 years of relevant experience in robotics, industrial automation, mechanical design, or robotic manufacturing systems.
- Strong hands-on experience in Robot Programming.
- Proven experience in Robot Teaching, including point teaching, path optimization, and program modification.
- Strong practical experience with FANUC industrial robots and teach pendants.
- Proficiency in UG NX for 3D modeling, assemblies, tooling, fixtures, and engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of robotic work cells, automation processes, and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot robot programs, motion sequences, positioning, and process-related issues.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Exposure to Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and automation-driven process optimization.
- Experience with robotic simulation, offline programming, or digital manufacturing tools.
- Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, vision systems, and industrial automation interfaces.
- Familiarity with robot-cell integration, safety systems, and industrial communication protocols.
- Experience working on automotive, manufacturing, assembly, welding, or other industrial automation projects.
