What this job involves
We are looking for a Data Center Operations Associate to support daily IT and data center operations. In this role, you will provide first-level technical support, manage customer requests, perform hands-on infrastructure activities, and help ensure the smooth operation of data center facilities and services.
What your day-to-day will look like
- Handle customer requests through phone, email, and ticketing systems.
- Provide basic technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, installation, and setup issues.
- Escalate complex issues to Level 2 support and track tickets through resolution.
- Perform hardware installation, rack and stack, cabling, testing, and decommissioning activities.
- Provide remote hands support, including equipment checks, power cycles, component replacements, hardware upgrades, and cable testing.
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments and verify equipment deliveries.
- Support service management processes by creating, updating, and closing service, incident, and change tickets.
- Assist with physical access management and security procedures within the data center.
- Support Power Maintenance Events (PME) and other operational activities.
- Maintain inventory, spare parts, cabinets, and consumables.
- Conduct physical audits and ensure asset records remain accurate and up to date.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and clients to support operational and project requirements.
- Support knowledge sharing, training initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, Nitec, or Diploma.
- 1–2 years of Data Center experience, OR strong knowledge of IT hardware, software, and networking.
- Experience with Microsoft server products and basic understanding of data center power schemes.
- Proven ability to execute hardware rack/stack, cabling, decommissioning, and remote hands tasks.
- Experience handling logistics, inventory tracking, and database updates.
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and manage incident/change support tickets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting data center operations or IT infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft server technologies.
- Basic understanding of data center power and infrastructure concepts.
- Exposure to hardware deployment, remote hands support, and inventory management.
