What you will do
Johnson Controls is seeking a strategic business development professional to help drive growth across North America. In this role, you will work closely with Direct and Indirect channel sales teams, partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to build a data-driven strategy for Metasys modernization at abandoned or under-supported sites.
This position is focused on identifying, prioritizing, and converting modernization opportunities within the installed base. You will help shape growth projects, strengthen channel execution, and support partner-led and direct sales motions that expand reach and accelerate customer outcomes.
How you will do it
Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for Metasys modernization opportunities across North America.
Work with Direct and Indirect channel sales teams to identify target accounts, segment opportunities, and build pursuit plans.
Analyze installed base data to prioritize abandoned or under-supported sites with the highest modernization potential.
Partner with channel sales teams and external partners to create account strategies, engagement plans, and opportunity pipelines.
Support partner recruitment, onboarding, and enablement activities that strengthen modernization coverage in the market.
Collaborate with marketing, product management, and sales stakeholders to align messaging, campaigns, and sales tools.
Track pipeline activity, conversion trends, and partner performance to inform forecasting and strategy adjustments.
Prepare reports and presentations that communicate market opportunities, progress, and key growth metrics.
Help remove execution barriers so modernization opportunities can move efficiently from identification to close.
Own your initiatives with accountability and integrity, making decisions that support customer success, compliance, and safe execution.
Stay close to the work by working directly with sales teams, partners, and customers to understand site conditions and remove obstacles quickly.
Use data, market insights, and installed-base analysis to focus effort on the opportunities that matter most.
Apply continuous improvement through candid review of results, disciplined follow-up, and practical problem-solving.

What we look for
Required
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience in strategic business development, channel sales, or growth-focused account planning.
Strong understanding of channel dynamics and partner-led selling models.
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate insights into action plans.
Experience collaborating with sales teams, partners, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive initiatives through to completion.
Preferred
Experience with Metasys modernization, building controls, or related installed-base upgrade programs.
Familiarity with Salesforce and SAP for opportunity tracking, reporting, or pricing workflows.
Exposure to BMS, legacy infrastructure integration, or technical sales support.
Experience developing partner enablement materials, sales tools, or market segmentation plans.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $ 140,600 to $211,300 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
