Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Precision Machinist specializing in CNC Mill and/or CNC Lathe programming and machining. In this role, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to produce high-quality, tight-tolerance components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining technology and contribute to high-quality manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of working independently while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards. The hourly rate will be based on experience and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Programming & Setup
- Program, edit and optimize CNC programs for Mill and/or Lathe operations. Knowledge of G&M codes preferred.
- Set up machine including material, tooling selection, offsets and fixture alignment.
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings accurately to produce complex parts.
- Select proper cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
Machining & Production
- Operate CNC Mill and/or Lathe to manufacture precision components.
- Download existing programs into the controls and make necessary adjustments to the programs.
- Update header and tooling information so the information is clear and accurate for others to use as well.
- Monitor machine operations and adjust as necessary to maintain tolerances.
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
- Maintain production efficiency while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Inspect and document parts as required on inspection sheets, when required.
Quality & Safety
- Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
- Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust setups as needed, and ensure adherence to safety protocols throughout the manufacturing process.
- Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized area.
- Commitment to safety standards and quality assurance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Compensation
· Pay Range: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour depending on level of experience
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of CNC machining experience (Mill or Lathe specialization).
- Proficiency in G&M-code programming and editing at the machine.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with precision measuring tools and quality inspection processes
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Experience machining a variety of materials (steel, aluminum, stainless, plastics).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
- Experience with CAD Cam Software, Mastercam preferred.
- Must have a good work ethic, dependable, great communications skills, positive team player, self-motivated, person of high integrity, shows initiative.
- Personal measuring equipment to use on the job, not required but preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and attention to fine detail work.
- Be able to work 50 hrs a week, Monday - Friday.
