ReconCraft, a leading manufacturer of specialized marine vessels, is seeking a Buyer to join our procurement team in Clackamas, Oregan. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing components, materials, and parts necessary for the production of our high-performance vessels. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of supply chain processes, and experience in marine or industrial manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Sourcing & Procurement:
- Research and identify reliable suppliers of parts and components for marine vessel
production. - Evaluate vendor bids, quality, delivery times, and prices to ensure optimal purchasing
decisions. - Negotiate pricing and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and maintain
cost efficiency. - Issue and manage purchase orders for direct materials, components, and indirect goods
using ERP systems.

- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the production team to ensure timely supply
of parts without overstocking. - Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure the continuity of supply and
quality control.

- Order Placement & Follow-up:
- Place purchase orders for parts, ensuring timely delivery to meet production schedules.
- Track order statuses, manage any delays or shortages, and communicate updates to
relevant departments.
- Cost Control:
- Conduct regular cost analysis and budgeting to ensure purchases remain within the
company's financial guidelines. - Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing or bulk purchasing
strategies.

- Maintain accurate purchasing records, contracts, and vendor agreements.
- Generate regular reports on purchasing activities, vendor performance, and cost-saving
achievements.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the engineering and production teams to understand specific parts
requirements. - Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any supplier quality issues or
discrepancies.

Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Required Knowledge/Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in marine or industrial manufacturing
- Familiarity with marine parts, components, and suppliers is highly desirable
- Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with procurement software and ERP systems
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Working Conditions:
- Office-based role with occasional visits to the production floor or suppliers’ facilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
