If you are a natural relationship-builder who enjoys negotiating with international stakeholders, closing deals and ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard, then this role, operating in a fast-paced environment, may be for you.

The Role

The Macquarie University College EMI Centre has a range of courses and programs that require both strategic business development (promoting, recruiting, converting new business and building client relationships) and operational delivery (logistics coordination, delivery of operational requirements and project oversight). This role sits at the intersection of both business development and operational delivery and requires confidence across both areas.

Reporting to the Director of the College, you will be the trusted first point of contact for new and long-term partners – responsible not only for identifying and securing new business but for ensuring it is delivered to a high standard from enquiry through to completion. You will act as the conduit between the College, the wider University recruitment teams, and external stakeholders, moving fluidly between strategic conversations and operation execution. Key responsibilities for the role:

Business Development

  • Identify, pursue and convert new business opportunities, including managing and growing our online resources — IELTSonline.com, the Fundamentals of Teaching EMI Microcredential, and the English for STEM program suite.

  • Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, quotations and business cases that build trust and secure prospective business.

  • Negotiate commercial terms with international and domestic stakeholders and build long-term partnerships that support strategic growth.

  • Liaise with University recruitment and marketing teams on collateral, website content, promotion and product brand compliance to support conversion.

Operations and Project Delivery

  • Scope, plan and report on projects to inform and support strategic decision-making.

  • Support the implementation of projects, including tracking milestones, deliverables and evaluation outcomes.

  • Coordinate the end-to-end delivery and logistics of visiting student and educator groups, ensuring smooth, well-run and memorable training and cultural experiences.

  • Manage payments and administrative processes associated with client relationships and project delivery.

  • Build and manage relationships with project teams, and internal and external stakeholders, to ensure operational requirements are consistently met.

General

  • Comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations

  • Perform any other duties as required and appropriate for this classification.

About You

You are someone who genuinely enjoys business development and operational delivery. You will have demonstrated knowledge and success in growing and maintaining business products both internationally and domestically, with the confidence and skill to negotiate contracts, sell products, and present to small and large groups. On the operations side, you'll bring strong project coordination skills, high levels of accuracy, and the ability to manage competing deadlines without compromising quality.

You will have high-level written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to work collaboratively with teams across the University and with international stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
