Boiler Operator

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
- Operate high pressure boilers and related auxiliary equipment including switching fuel sources associated with curtailments
- Operate electric and steam turbine chillers and related auxiliary equipment
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on Utility Plant equipment including boilers, steam condensers, heat exchangers, cooling towers, electric and turbine driven pumps and fans
- Maintain logbooks and recordkeeping
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this 3M Production role, in compliance with U.S. labor and safety laws.
- Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- State of Minnesota 1st Class A Engineer license or higher
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating high pressure boilers
- Ability to work weekends, rotating shifts, overtime, holidays (as needed), short notice shift change
- Must stay current on boiler operating codes and required State of Minnesota Engineers license
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Associates degree in building maintenance or an equipment operation discipline
- State of Minnesota Chief A Engineer license
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating high pressure boilers
- Experience with chiller plant operations
Pay & Benefits:
- The starting rate of pay for this position is $45.57. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
