What You'll Be Part Of
- As an Immigration Specialist, you will be an individual contributor within HARMAN's Global Mobility and HR Operations team, supporting employment-based immigration programs across the United States.
- You will partner closely with employees, managers, HR teams, Finance stakeholders, and external immigration counsel to facilitate visa and permanent residency processes.
- This role is ideal for someone who enjoys managing complex casework, ensuring compliance, delivering exceptional employee support, and driving operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Coordinate employment-based immigration cases, including H-1B, L-1A, L-1B, O-1, TN, H-4, and U.S. permanent residency processes, by partnering closely with external immigration counsel and internal stakeholders.
- Support H-1B cap registrations, extensions, amendments, transfers, and related filings by collecting documentation, validating information, and ensuring timely case preparation.
- Monitor visa validity periods, work authorization timelines, priority dates, and maximum stay limits to help ensure continuity of employment and proactive case planning.
Facilitate change of status, consular processing, and dependent visa matters while providing employees with guidance throughout the immigration lifecycle. - Coordinate Labor Condition Applications (LCA), Notice of Filing (NOF) requirements, and Public Access File (PAF) documentation to support regulatory compliance.
- Review job titles, job descriptions, compensation information, and wage data prior to submission to legal counsel to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Manage multiple immigration matters simultaneously, including large-scale initiatives such as H-1B cap season and other volume-driven filing cycles.
- Provide regular case status updates, compliance guidance, and action plans to employees, managers, HR partners, and business leaders.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and business teams to secure approvals, validate organizational information, and support workforce planning initiatives.
- Develop and maintain immigration reports, trackers, metrics, and documentation that support audits, forecasting, budgeting, and operational decision-making.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by enhancing processes, standard operating procedures, and knowledge-sharing resources across the immigration program.
What Makes You A Strong Fit
- Strong knowledge of U.S. employment-based immigration processes, including nonimmigrant and immigrant visa categories and associated compliance requirements.
Experience coordinating high-volume immigration cases while effectively managing timelines, priorities, and stakeholder expectations. - Ability to interpret and validate immigration-related data, employee information, job details, and supporting documentation with high attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple deadlines, approvals, filings, and employee communications simultaneously. - Experience collaborating with external legal counsel, HR teams, finance partners, and business leaders to drive successful case outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex immigration processes in a clear and employee-friendly manner.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to prepare reports, monitor compliance metrics, and identify process improvement opportunities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee and immigration information.
- We see AI as an important part of how work gets done. While tools may vary, a baseline familiarity with using AI to support efficiency, problem-solving, and quality is expected.
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience supporting H-1B cap season planning, batch processing, and large-scale immigration programs.
- Knowledge of PERM labor certification, I-140 immigrant petitions, and I-485 adjustment of status processes.
- Experience working with immigration case management systems, HRIS platforms, and document management tools.
- Familiarity with global mobility, relocation, and international assignment programs.
Experience developing immigration policies, compliance frameworks, or workforce planning initiatives.
