Job Description:

The Assistant Director, PS Operations, is a Full Time, Regular position working Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position serves as a strategic operations partner to the IIPS Chief Executive Officer and Director of Operations, leading technology and workflow initiatives, evaluating and implementing new operational and AI-enabled tools, and providing data analysis and executive support across IIPS. This position also serves as an internal resource on regulatory and compliance matters, provides operational back-up to the Director of Operations, and works closely with the IIPS Chief Executive Officer, Director of Operations, Radiologists, IIBA Clients, PRAs, and PS Operations staff. The Associate Director of Operations must be able to work effectively and efficiently with a large number of Radiologists and related staff, and to manage multiple complex, concurrent projects independently. The position interacts with other departments within IIBA, shareholders and employees of various client organizations, and the general public. A professional demeanor must be maintained at all times. Work requires independent judgment and initiative on assignments that are sensitive in nature and demonstrated ability to deal with high level contacts inside and outside the company. Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills, along with sound judgment and a high level of confidentiality, are necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates implementation of new PACS, worklist, and voice recognition (Fluency) systems, including workflow design, staff and physician training, and post-go-live support.
  • Maintains and updates radiologist worklists, routing rules, and voice recognition templates on an ongoing basis; works with section heads and physicians to create, update, and monitor templates.
  • Leads implementation of the foundation model/AI platform for radiology report generation, including workflow design, physician and staff training, and troubleshooting.
  • Researches, evaluates, and pilots new AI and operational technology tools; manages associated implementation projects, timelines, and vendor coordination.
  • Researches and assesses regulatory status and compliance requirements affecting clinical and business operations, including state and federal practice requirements, accreditation and licensing standards, and the regulatory status of new AI and clinical software tools under evaluation, flagging risks and coordinating with legal and compliance stakeholders as needed.
  • Leads development of SOPs, risk assessments, and change-management documentation for new technology and workflow implementations.
  • Serves as primary vendor liaison for technology implementation and deployment projects, coordinating IT integration, timelines, and communication across stakeholders.
  • Serves as an internal resource on regulatory and compliance matters as they arise, coordinating with legal counsel and outside regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Partners with the data team on operational and workforce data analysis, including physician FTE, staffing, and compensation/incentive modeling; prepares related reports and summaries for leadership.
  • Develops presentations, slide decks, and executive-ready dashboards and analysis that translate technical, operational, and regulatory complexity into decision-ready summaries for the CEO, Board, Executive Committee, and section/committee meetings.
  • Supports new site implementations, including workflow setup, training, and coordination with local staff and hospital administration.
  • Serves as back-up to the Director of Operations for day-to-day operational and administrative responsibilities, and assumes the Director's supervisory authority over IIPS Operations staff, when the Director is unavailable.
  • Supports contract review and negotiation for vendor, technology, and site agreements, in coordination with legal counsel; assists with other legal requests (e.g., deposition and document coordination, communication with attorneys) as needed.
  • Supports physician recruiting and physician liaison activities as capacity allows, in coordination with the Executive Committee and recruiting team.
  • Analyzes operational data, including volumes, turnaround time, and staffing levels, and prepares reports to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Works with IT to develop, update, and improve online forms, tokens, and other workflow tools that improve productivity for Radiologists and technologists.
  • Attends and presents at Executive Committee, Board, Section, and Operating Committee meetings as requested by the CEO.
  • Manages internal IIPS policies related to areas of oversight, ensuring they remain current and accessible to Radiologists and staff.
  • Travels to divisions of Inland Imaging as needed to support implementation projects and provide on-site training.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned, based on organizational need and individual skill set.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required for this position.
  • Other tasks may be assigned and management retains the right to add or change the duties at any time.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct reports in the day-to-day role. When serving as back-up to the Director of Operations, this position assumes the Director's supervisory authority over IIPS Operations staff, including the Credentialing Coordinator, Imaging Services Coordinator, and PS Operations Specialist/Administrative Assistant.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Experience

Minimum of five years of relevant operations, project management, or healthcare administration experience. Experience working in a radiology or healthcare organization is strongly preferred. Experience with PACS, RIS, voice recognition, or other clinical workflow systems is preferred. Experience evaluating, piloting, or implementing new technology or AI tools is preferred. Experience with data analysis, including physician FTE, productivity, or compensation/incentive data, is preferred. Experience with healthcare regulatory affairs and compliance documentation — including clinical practice and supervision requirements, accreditation standards, and FDA/SaMD (Software as a Medical Device) frameworks for AI-enabled clinical software — is a plus.

Skills

Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent, complex projects independently. Excellent PowerPoint, presentation, and slide development skills. Excellent leadership, organizational, and training skills, with the ability to step into an operational leadership role as needed. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and sound decision-making skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise discretion with confidential and sensitive information. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with all organizational levels.

Must pass a background check per RCW 43.43.830–840 and other related local, state, or federal statutes.  A background check is initially completed post a contingent written offer of employment and then may be rechecked throughout employment.
