Job Description

The New York Times' Advertising team is looking for an Ads Solutions and Campaign Management Intern to join the team. As an Ads Solutions and Campaign Management intern, you will support the post-sale creative production, trafficking, delivery and reporting of digital campaigns across The New York Times portfolio. You will work closely with Campaign Managers and Producers to ensure that advertiser creatives align with client expectations and that campaigns are set up accurately, deliver on schedule and meet our quality standards.


About The Role

This internship is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and training in digital creative production and ad operations within a global, premium publisher environment. This is a hybrid role based in our Paris headquarters, reporting to the Director, Ad Solutions & Operations. You can typically expect to be in the office 3 days per week. The position will start from September for a duration of 6 months, based in Paris. Candidates must have the right to work in France for the full duration of the internship.

  • This internship is intended for students or recent graduates who meet the legal requirements for an internship (stage) in France with a mandatory “Convention de stage”.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Ad Solutions in the creative production process:
    • Helping compile specs and example executions for clients based on signed media plans
    • Reviewing assets for technical specification compliancy
    • Customising units according to client guidelines using CSS3
    • Testing ads across browsers, screen sizes and devices
  • Support Campaign Managers with the end-to-end setup of digital campaigns, including:
    • Collecting and validating creative assets and tracking tags
    • Trafficking campaigns in GAM, AdSwizz and LiveIntent 
  • Assist in monitoring live campaigns:
    • Reviewing pacing and delivery reports
    • Flagging under-delivery or issues to the Campaign Manager in a timely manner
    • Supporting optimisations based on performance and client objectives
  • Contribute to campaign reporting:
    • Pulling performance data from ad servers and other platforms
    • Assisting in the preparation of client-facing reports and post-campaign summaries
  • Support day-to-day operations:
    • Collaborating with Sales, Planning and other internal stakeholders on campaign-related tasks
    • Maintaining internal dashboards and trackers as required
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Interest in digital advertising
  • Experience working with numbers and spreadsheets (e.g. basic formulas, filtering and pivot tables in Excel/Google Sheets) 
  • Experience with a detailed and structured working style
  • Experience prioritizing competing programs, responsibilities, and projects
  • Professional proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of digital advertising concepts (impressions, clicks, CTR, viewability, targeting, etc.)
  • Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3 and JS. 
  • Exposure to or interest in ad serving, analytics or marketing platforms (e.g. Google Ad Manager, campaign management tools, web analytics)
  • Experience working with datasets, reporting or dashboards (e.g. coursework, projects, part-time roles)
  • Previous internship or work experience in media, advertising, marketing or a related field
  • Professional proficiency in French

Additional Compensation and Benefits

For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock.
