What You'll Do

As a Casual Youth Worker, you'll provide practical support, encouragement and guidance to young people as they work towards their recovery, wellbeing and independence goals.

Your role will include:

• Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
• Supporting case plans and individual goals
• Coaching life skills including budgeting, cooking, healthy living and independent living
• Encouraging participation in education, employment, recreation and community activities
• Supporting young people to reconnect with family, culture and community
• Responding confidently to challenging situations and crisis incidents
• Maintaining accurate case notes and client records
• Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team committed to positive outcomes

To be successful, you'll have:

• Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work, Human Services or a related field
• Experience supporting young people with complex needs
• Knowledge of alcohol and other drug issues, mental health and trauma-informed practice
• Strong communication, relationship-building and conflict-resolution skills
• The ability to engage, motivate and empower young people
• A flexible, resilient and professional approach
• Current Driver Licence
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
• Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• Availability to work across a 24/7 roster, including weekends, overnight and public holiday shifts
