We are seeking an experienced Workday Functional Solutions Architect to lead the design, configuration, and optimization of our Workday HCM ecosystem. This role serves as the primary functional expert bridging business requirements with Workday's technical capabilities, ensuring our HR technology landscape scales with organizational growth while maintaining best-practice configurations across core modules.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead functional architect for Workday, translating business requirements into scalable, sustainable solution designs across HCM modules
- Design and configure business processes, security groups, calculated fields to support HR, Benefits, Talent, Compensation, and Security functions
- Partner with HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and recommend Workday-native solutions before pursuing customizations
- Design and maintain the Workday security framework, including domain/business process security policies, security groups (role-based, job-based, user-based), segregation-of-duties controls, and periodic access audits
- Provide architectural guidance on complex initiatives such as mergers/acquisitions, org restructures, multi-country rollouts, and new module implementations
- Develop and maintain documentation including design specs, configuration workbooks, business process maps, and security matrices
- Mentor junior analysts and configuration specialists; act as escalation point for complex functional and security issues
- Ensure data integrity, compliance, and audit-readiness across all Workday modules
- Evaluate and recommend new Workday modules/functionality aligned to business strategy
The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.
$107.5K - $155.6K USD

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of hands-on Workday HCM experience, including at least 3 years in a solutions architect, lead configuration, or senior functional consultant capacity
- Deep functional expertise across multiple Workday modules, such as:
- Core HCM (Business Processes, Organizations, Staffing Models)
- Advanced Compensation
- Benefits Administration
- Absence Management
- Talent & Performance Management
- Recruiting
- Security (Domain & Business Process Security, Segregation of Duties)
- Reporting (Advanced Reporting, Calculated Fields, Dashboards)
- Proven experience leading full-cycle Workday implementations, module rollouts, or major transformation projects
- Strong understanding of integration tools (EIB, Core Connectors, Studio) and reporting/BIRT tools
- Excellent stakeholder management and consulting skills; able to communicate with both technical and executive audiences
- Experience with change management and release testing methodologies
