About the Role

As the Workday Functional Lead, you will lead the optimisation, adoption and continuous improvement of Workday and related People systems across Tennis Australia. Reporting to the Head of People Systems Optimisation, you will act as the functional expert for Workday HCM, partnering with stakeholders across the business to translate People and business requirements into efficient, scalable and compliant system solutions.

You will play a key role in Tennis Australia's People Systems Optimisation journey, acting as the link between business stakeholders, implementation partners and technical consultants. From process design and system enhancements through to testing, reporting and change adoption, you'll help ensure our People technology delivers a seamless user experience while supporting organisational goals.

A critical aspect of the role is leveraging Workday's reporting and analytics capabilities to provide actionable workforce insights, improve decision-making and enable greater self-service across the People function. Combining strong Workday expertise with stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement, you will help shape how Tennis Australia uses technology, data and process design to create better outcomes for our people and the business.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Workday professional who thrives on solving complex problems, influencing stakeholders and driving meaningful change through technology.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the functional lead and subject matter expert for Workday HCM and associated People technologies.
  • Translate business requirements into effective system solutions, process improvements and scalable ways of working.
  • Lead functional analysis, testing, quality assurance and user acceptance activities for system enhancements and upgrades.
  • Partner with stakeholders to optimise People processes and maximise value from Workday functionality.
  • Act as the key liaison between external implementation partners, consultants and internal stakeholders.
  • Build advanced reporting, dashboards and self-service solutions that provide meaningful workforce insights.
  • Drive data quality, governance and compliance practices through audit routines and reporting controls.
  • Develop documentation, training materials and coaching initiatives to increase capability and confidence across the People team.
  • Support release management activities and proactively identify opportunities to leverage new functionality and system improvements.
  • Contribute to the strategic People technology roadmap and continued optimisation of the employee experience.

About You

You're a highly capable Workday professional who can comfortably move between strategy, stakeholder engagement and hands-on system configuration. You enjoy solving problems, simplifying complexity and helping organisations unlock the full value of their technology investments.

You are naturally curious and forward-thinking, with a passion for continuous improvement and a strong understanding of how technology can enable better people outcomes. You have the confidence to challenge current processes, influence stakeholders and recommend solutions that balance user experience, governance and operational efficiency.

Most importantly, you're a collaborator who can translate technical concepts into practical business language and build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation.

Must Have

  • Strong experience supporting and optimising Workday HCM or equivalent cloud-based HRIS platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into system solutions and process improvements.
  • Experience working on HR technology projects, implementations, upgrades or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced reporting and analytics capability with experience developing dashboards and workforce insights.
  • Understanding of Workday business processes, governance principles and system configuration concepts.
  • Proven ability to prioritise multiple initiatives and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong documentation, training and change management capability.
  • Experience partnering with external vendors, implementation partners and project teams.

Additional Requirements

  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours activities associated with Tennis Australia events and operations.
  • A collaborative, growth mindset aligned to Tennis Australia's values of Imagination, Collaboration, Humility and Excellence.
