This position is part of Novanta’s Advanced Surgery Business Unit. At Novanta Medical, we develop innovative medical devices and accessories that enable minimally invasive procedures, helping surgeons perform complex interventions through smaller incisions.

Our portfolio includes cameras, insufflators, medical pumps, and tubing systems that support diagnosis and treatment around the world. By combining technological expertise with close collaboration between customers, physicians, and engineers, we continuously develop solutions that improve patient outcomes and make surgical procedures safer and more efficient.

As a Working Student in our System Verification Team, you will support the testing and verification of medical devices and tubing systems used in minimally invasive surgery.

Working closely with experienced engineers and verification specialists, you will help execute test cases, document results, analyze findings, and contribute to ensuring the highest quality standards for our products. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in medical technology, testing methodologies, and quality assurance processes while working with innovative healthcare solutions.

Your Responsibilities:


  • Support the System Verification (SV) and NPI teams in planning and executing product verification activities
  • Prepare and maintain test setups, equipment, and testing environments
  • Execute test cases according to defined protocols and accurately document results
  • Identify, investigate, and report test deviations, defects, or inconsistencies
  • Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining verification documentation and reports
  • Participate in test planning, reviews, and team discussions
  • Support troubleshooting activities and contribute to problem-solving during testing
  • Help ensure that testing is performed using appropriate calibrated equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
  • Learn and apply testing methodologies, processes, and quality standards

Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Engineering (e.g. Engineering, Medical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics)
  • First experience gained through university projects, internship, or student work in testing, quality assurance, or engineering is beneficial
  • Experience with testing tools, automation, C# or LabVIEW ideal
  • Structured working style, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Interst in medical technology and product testing
  • Basic knowledge of testing principles and quality assurance methods
  • Good English and German language skills
