Welding & Fabrication Foreman
Location: York, PA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay: Starting at $39/hour, higher depending on experience, plus $3/hour second-shift differential
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Welding & Fabrication Foreman to lead second-shift shop operations. This role oversees employees, production activities, equipment, materials, scheduling, and quality while keeping fabrication work on track for safe and timely delivery.
The Foreman works closely with fabrication, project management, logistics, purchasing, and other departments to coordinate production and resolve operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support shop employees throughout the second shift.
- Oversee daily fabrication and production activities, including personnel, equipment, tools, and materials.
- Enforce company policies, safety practices, and established work procedures.
- Maintain and update production and fabrication schedules.
- Coordinate deliveries and determine staffing/work hours needed to meet delivery commitments.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate standard fabrication procedures.
- Monitor quality and implement quality-control practices to ensure finished products meet requirements.
- Review production processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, employee productivity, and quality.
- Coordinate with other departments and facilities regarding project schedules, product status, quality, and delivery.
- Monitor shop equipment and building maintenance as needed.
- Maintain productive relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Balance shop workload and communicate operational needs to management.
- Monitor inventory levels in coordination with the first-shift foreman, operations management, and purchasing.
- Make day-to-day operational decisions that support company objectives.
Qualifications
- Previous managerial or supervisory experience required.
- Strong knowledge of the fabrication industry.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to organize work, manage competing priorities, and maintain production schedules.
- Comfortable working second shift, overtime, and Saturdays as needed.
