Volunteer Group Facilitator

Location: Derby City Link Links, Stuart House, Green Lane, Derby, DE1 1RS

Timing: Mondays 10am – 2pm

Training: Volunteers have access to Waythrough’s training platform, Workday, and

will be asked to complete a number of training modules within their first 3 months.

Derby City Life Links provides a wellness and mental health recovery service

tailored to meet your needs. Our information, advice and navigation services can

help you find community and digital resources that will help you to achieve your

recovery outcomes, make your independence more sustainable and support you

in developing your own support networks.

The Role

This exciting volunteer role would suit someone with an empathetic, open-minded

attitude who can built strong working relationships with others as part of a holistic

approach to improving overall health and wellbeing of the people we support. A

Group Facilitator Volunteer will attend the service frequently to engage with the

staff and people the service supports, facilitating wellbeing group sessions and

supporting people accessing the group.

Tasks may include:

  • Support and facilitate peer support groups, mental health workshops and
  • courses
  • Being a friendly face and welcoming those who attend the service
  • Offering a listening ear and facilitating discussions that bring people together
  • Promoting and signposting activities available in the wider community
  • Engaging with the people who access the service and encouraging mental
  • wellbeing
  • Setting up for group sessions, helping to keep the communal areas tidy (e.g.
  • kitchen and activity room), and packing away following each session
  • Identify and report any concerns or risks to the Duty staff or Duty Manager within the building

Skills we would like you to bring to the role:

  • Confident IT skills – aside from any IT skills required for the role, some of our
  • mandatory training is done online through eLearning modules
  • Professional, honest and committed
  • Non-judgmental towards people with lived experience
  • Good time keeping
  • Able to work as part of a team, on own initiative and to instruction
  • Lived experience welcomed and using your unique experiences to
  • encourage, guide and support people accessing services.
  • Work alongside staff to create inclusive, supportive environments that
  • encourage wellbeing, recovery and positive change.
  • A genuine interest in being part of the mission, vision and promise of
  • Waythrough
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries, adhere to Waythrough policies
  • and media guidelines, engage in supervision, and complete relevant training
