JOB SUMMARY:

Pilates Reformer Instructors teach at Carmody Recreation Center for the City of Lakewood. This position is directly supervised by the Fitness Specialist and Fitness and Wellness Programs Administrator, and will assist in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to: 

•    Instruct Pilates Reformer classes to community members.
•    Educate participants on proper and safe exercise form.
•    Enforce policies and procedures in group fitness activity areas.  Execute risk management plan.
•    Maintain Pilates Reformer and CPR/First Aid certifications.

Job Requirements

•    Pilates Reformer—nationally recognized certification
•    AHA or American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification

Supervision Received:
Receives general supervision from Fitness and Wellness Programs Administrator and the Fitness Specialist.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Experience:
•    Experience and willingness to work with a wide array of populations and/or conditions.
•    Minimum of 6 months teaching experience.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current CPR and First Aid certification.

-    Physical ability to safely move Reformer equipment back and forth between standing vertical position against wall and horizontal class readiness on floor

-    Willingness to help cover/substitute for other instructors as needed
-    Ability to make sound decisions
-    Strong organizational skills
-    Ability to use a computer and on-line time entry system, knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
-    Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other City personnel and the general public
-    Experience in large group presentations highly recommended
-    Ability to recognize deficiencies in class and make necessary modifications as needed
-    Willingness to encourage participation in other fitness programs offered by the City of Lakewood
-    Maintain personal and professional health to act as role model for patrons and coworkers
