About this Traveling Carpenter role at Daniels Sharpsmart

Daniels Sharpsmart · Hybrid · Fresno, CA
Daniels Health is seeking an experienced Travelling Carpenter to support facility and plant operations across a growing multi-site footprint. This role is responsible for rough and finish carpentry, framing, repairs, and build-out work needed to keep Daniels Health locations safe, compliant, and fully operational.

The Travelling Carpenter also supports capital construction and equipment installation projects, including Autoclaves, Wash lines, Compactors, and boiler rooms, led by the General Contractor, partnering closely with the Plant Manager and project team to keep carpentry scopes on schedule and up to code. This is a full-time, W2 position requiring travel to project sites approximately 50% of the time, with flexibility to support day shift and, where needed, 2nd shift coverage.

What you will do

What you will do:

Carpentry, Framing & Repair

•    Perform rough and finish carpentry, including framing, drywall, doors, frames, hardware, trim, cabinetry, and ceiling systems across Daniels Health facilities.
•    Repair and maintain walls, floors, stairs, platforms, railings, dock areas, and other building components that affect plant uptime, safety, or building operations.
•    Support site buildouts, retrofits, office and break-room renovations, and maintenance projects in high-priority locations.
•    Provide support for off-shift or 2nd shift maintenance needs when required by the site.
Capital Project & Installation Support
•    Build equipment pads, platforms, enclosures, access walkways, blocking, and backing to support installation of Autoclaves, Wash lines, Compactors, boiler rooms, and related equipment.
•    Partner with the General Contractor and external subcontractors to execute carpentry scopes of work on time, within budget, and up to code.
•    Read and interpret blueprints, architectural and mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) drawings, and equipment specifications to lay out and guide work.
•    Coordinate sequencing with electricians, plumbers, HVAC, and masonry trades so openings, supports, and finishes are ready ahead of installation.

Multi-Site Travel & Coverage

•    Travel to multiple sites (approximately 50%) across assigned regions: Midwest, East Coast, Florida, and Texas, with priority coverage in California, Texas, Florida, and Georgia to assess conditions, complete repairs, and support build-out and installation projects.
•    Maintain flexibility to support day shift and, where needed, 2nd shift coverage based on site needs.
•    Transport, maintain, and account for tools, materials, and equipment between job sites.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
•    Partner with Plant Managers, the General Contractor, and maintenance stakeholders to identify risks, prioritize repairs, and improve facility reliability.
•    Provide regular updates to the Head of Infrastructure, Plant Manager, and General Contractor on job progress, material needs, and site conditions.
•    Ensure minimal disruption to ongoing facility operations during carpentry repairs or construction work.

Safety & Compliance

•    Ensure all carpentry work is completed in compliance with the International Building Code (IBC), local building and fire codes, ADA requirements, and internal standards.
•    Enforce OSHA and site-specific safety standards, including fall protection, ladder and scaffold safety, and safe power-tool use, whether working independently or alongside subcontractors.
•    Maintain current knowledge of permitting and inspection requirements across assigned states.
