Global Payroll Transformation and M&A Lead

Your role and responsibilities

As ABB Robotics prepares to become a standalone global leader in automation, we are transforming key business processes to support our future organization. We are now looking for an experienced Payroll Implementation Project Manager to lead payroll transformation projects across the Nordic countries.

In this role, you will be responsible for driving the transition to an outsourced payroll managed services model, ensuring successful delivery from planning and discovery through implementation, go-live, stabilization, and handover. Acting as the central point of coordination between payroll providers and internal stakeholders, you will manage project scope, timelines, governance, risks, dependencies, testing, and deployment activities.

You will work closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, IT, Workday, and Time & Attendance teams to ensure a seamless implementation that meets local compliance requirements and business needs. The role reports functionally to the Global Payroll Transformation Lead and is part of a wider global transformation program.

The position is a temporary assignment ending October 31, 2027.

Preferred work locations are Spain or Poland, although other ABB locations in Sweden, Norway, Spain, or Poland may be considered.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end payroll implementation projects across the Nordic countries, ensuring successful delivery through all project phases, from discovery and design to go-live and operational handover.
  • Manage project planning, governance, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and provider delivery while maintaining alignment with overall transformation objectives.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to define payroll requirements, document processes, coordinate system integrations and data migration activities, and ensure compliance with local payroll legislation and regulations.
  • Oversee testing activities, including system integration testing, user acceptance testing, and parallel payroll runs, ensuring defects are resolved and business sign-off is achieved.
  • Coordinate go-live readiness, change management, training, stabilization activities, and the transition into business-as-usual payroll operations.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates to senior stakeholders, proactively managing issues, dependencies, and project risks throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Your background

You are an experienced project leader with a proven track record of delivering payroll transformation and implementation projects in complex international environments. You combine strong project management capabilities with practical payroll knowledge and are comfortable working across multiple functions and stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you bring:

  • Several years of project management experience, including end-to-end payroll implementation projects.
  • Experience implementing outsourced payroll solutions within a managed services environment.
  • Practical knowledge of Nordic payroll processes, operations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience coordinating payroll system integrations, including Workday-to-payroll interfaces.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across Payroll, HR, Finance, IT, and external providers.
  • A proactive and solution-oriented approach, with strong ownership and execution capabilities.
  • Professional fluency in English.

It is considered an advantage if you have:

  • Experience with Strada payroll implementations.
  • Experience leading multi-country payroll implementations across the Nordic region.
  • Experience from divestments, carve-outs, or organizational transformation programs.
  • A recognized project management certification.
  • Swedish language skills.
