About this Training Developer Editor & Quality Reviewer role at CAE
Role Overview
Join our training development team as a Technical Editor and Quality Assurance Specialist, responsible for reviewing and assuring the quality of training and technical documentation supporting Defence capability programs. You will act as the final quality gate before customer delivery, ensuring courseware, technical publications, policies, procedures, and reports meet the highest standards of accuracy, consistency, and professionalism. Your expertise in technical writing, editing, and training development will help strengthen the quality of learning products delivered to Defence customers.
Description
- Review and edit training materials, technical reports, policies, procedures, and customer deliverables for accuracy, grammar, style, and quality.
- Act as the final review gate before customer delivery, ensuring documentation meets organisational and customer standards.
- Develop templates, style guides, and writing standards to improve document consistency across the team.
- Provide quality assurance oversight of courseware and technical publications, ensuring language hygiene and content integrity.
- Prepare lessons learned summaries and writing best practice guidance for dissemination across the workforce.
- Coach and mentor team members on effective technical writing, English language usage, and documentation standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40122)
- Training or qualifications in the development of computer-based training
- Minimum 5 years' experience in training development
- Experience in training development within a military aviation or naval platform environment
- Demonstrated understanding of ADF training policies and procedures (SADL)
- Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (TAE50122)
- Experience working with Learning Content Management Systems and authoring tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to review technical documents and identify grammatical, structural and content errors
- Ability to manage editing and delivery schedules across multiple competing priorities
- Ability to train and coach others in the correct use of the English language
- Ability to develop documentation and writing capability across a broader team
- Strong judgement and decision-making skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required Australian Defence Security Clearance
- Ability to work at our Homebush, NSW site in a hybrid or onsite capacity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience establishing editorial governance frameworks and style guides
- Experience acting as a quality assurance lead on Defence training projects
- Advanced technical editing or professional writing qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale Defence training transformation programs
Location
- Homebush, NSW
- We operate a hybrid working approach.
- This is a part-time role - 3 days a week in office
- Some domestic and international travel may be required.
