The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $21.75 to $27.00 per hour.
This position is Non-Exempt under the FLSA.

The Trades Generalist-Signage plays a vital role in the Judicial Branch, crafting high-quality signage with precision and creativity. Responsible for designing and fabricating signage throughout the courts, this position offers specialized and skilled trades services, contributing to the professional ambiance of Judicial Branch buildings.

Position Qualifications

Education:
- High School diploma or GED
Experience:
- Two years of experience performing semi-skilled tasks
OR
Combined education and experience qualifications:
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis.
Other Requirements:
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License at the time of hire.
Our Preferred Candidate has:
- Coursework in graphic design
- Experience using Gerber sign-making software, printer and blotter, and experience installing internal and external signage.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Graphic Design software and file types
- Methods, best practices, tools, and materials used in a variety of trades, maintenance, and repair work.
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions among construction and facility maintenance projects.
Skill in:
- Operation of various tools, equipment and vehicles necessary in performing assignments
- Understanding and following instructions, sketches and maps
- Completing simple records and reports
- Both oral and written communication
Ability to:
- Think quickly and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships in this position.
- Use sign-making software, printer and blotter.
- Use and troubleshoot computerized maintenance management system.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Essential Job Tasks
(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)
- Operates specialized equipment and software to design, lay out, and fabricate a variety of signs including Gerber software, scanners, digitalizing tablets, printers, plotters, and engravers.
- Uses hand and power tools such as punches, knives, grinders, routers, drills to assemble signs to sandwich boards, name plates, vinyls, etc.
- Collaborates with content creators and stakeholders in the design, production, and fabrication of a variety of signage products.
- Performs quality assurance pre and postproduction by accurately reading and interpreting a work order and then proofing for errors or unacceptable standards.
- Understands and applies signage and design fundamentals while following Judicial Branch style guidelines and American with Disabilities Act (ADA) signage guidelines and regulations.
- Estimates time, labor, equipment and materials needed for jobs.
- Orders, purchases, picks-up and delivers materials, supplies and equipment.
- Monitors advances in the field of signage and recommends hardware, software, and materials purchases as appropriate.
- 5-10 hours per week the incumbent will process ServiceNow & Maximo JB Facilities work order requests.
Working conditions:
This position is mostly indoors in an office setting, It may require some exposure to outdoor elements related to weather such as high heat temperatures based on the signage need. Fabricating and installing signage can involve physical activities such as lifting, climbing, and working with tools and equipment. Safety precautions are essential to prevent injuries. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and maneuver necessary equipment and tools 30 to 75 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. Will require travel to facilities throughout Maricopa County.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan. Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County. This position may be reassigned to other locations. Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
